While I feel bad for people who had tickets, I can't believe this was pulling in huge numbers. Dave really should have called it a day a long time ago.
Coming soon from MoFi are the first 6 Van Halen albums in SACD! Also vinyl available for pre-order. Now it’s limited run, just 15,000 units worldwide so if your a fan, get over to MD and get your order in. I did.

How many times have these been remastered/re-released now? I know it's SACD and all that comes with it, but...... remaster the Hagar era already, dammit!

If you want all 6 of the vinyl editions, it will only cost you $750. I am so glad I never went back to vinyl.
I'm considering the SACDs, but Mobile Fidelity's reputation with digital isn't nearly what it once was.
Considering I still have SACD capability in a streaming world (I can stream all the known music based systems through my Sonos Arc setup), I still want a physical disc to play on my old school system. You sell a SACD especially now, I buy.

Van Halen on SACD? Color me intrigued, but at the same time, I'd rather they were on Blu-ray.
I still have my Sony Blu-ray player I bought over 11 years ago that has SACD capability, but when that dies, I'll be stuck with a couple handfuls of Hi-Res discs I'll never be able to play again.

(Unless Oppo is back in business, that is)
I have a SONY x800 4K Blu-ray player that does SACD. I also bought another one for backup, its still new in its box. No one makes SACD players anymore (Panasonic/LG) so its best to buy a backup SONY player while they still sell them. The SONY's are not expensive and are good 4K players.
I do have my major backup to the backup, my DENON 3910 DVD player that is also a great SACD player but its easier for me to use the SONY x800 as my SACD player right now as its connected to my TV and the Sonus system.

Thanks for the tip!

I'm famous in my family and among friends for always having a backup to my electronic goods, usually another Ipad in a box or a laptop or for quite awhile I had a backup big screen HD TV that Sony sent me for my defective SXRD Bravia as a penitence.
A friend ending up buying that one from me as it turned out I didn't need it (I was able to keep my Sony SXRD going for almost 15 years!
In the case of physical products, the need for a backup player is paramount if you don't want all those discs you bought being worthless.

Still no word on when the SACDs are coming out from MFSL (announced back in January). Have my pre-order in as I am a sucker for anything SACD (also need to feed my SACD player every once in awhile).

JohnG, it's funny that you brought this thread back up, because I was thinking about these SACDs earlier today. I also pre-ordered the SACDs and haven't heard anything since.

like minds think alike.
I was just thinking of them and realized 3 months had passed.

Anthony discussed the disappointing project in a new interview on the Mitch Lafon & Jeremy White Show, admitting: “I don't even like to talk about it. ... I don't even go into the recording process on that album because that album just took us frickin' everywhere. Alex Van Halen was going through a divorce at that time, and Ed played drums on some of this. I mean, it was just the craziest thing that the band had ever done.”
He noted that "there were only a couple of songs on that whole album that we, as an actual band, played together in the studio. … It’s sad because it could have been a lot better.”
I made my debut podcast appearance this week on And The Podcast Will Rock, a podcast that's going through the Van Halen catalog one song at a time. It was a fun hour that flew by. The two hosts, Corey and Mark, run a nice, relaxed show, and it's much more a celebration of VH than anything. Worth checking out! (The podcast, that is, not necessarily my appearance.)
