A fan collapsed and died at the Ghost show in Milwaukee last night. I saw a post about them cancelling part of the show, then heard this morning that the fan had died.''

Strangely enough, for some reason when I was at the Ghost show a few weeks ago, the thought crossed my mind that if I was to collapse suddenly and die, a concert is really just about the best place for it to happen. At least I'd be doing something I love.

Quote:
Ghost's Milwaukee concert canceled after fan collapses, dies

A sold-out Milwaukee concert with the band Ghost was canceled in progress Thursday after a fan collapsed. He died later Thursday night.

The Swedish metal band — performing at the 2,500-capacity Riverside Theater — had just announced an intermission around 9:15 p.m. when a man in the pit fell to the ground, concertgoer Alexander Stafford told the Journal Sentinel.

Fans flagged security for help, CPR was issued, and people were cleared out of the venue, Stafford said. Around 9:45 p.m., security began telling people that the show was canceled, he said.

"Tonight, in Milwaukee, there was a medical emergency with one of our fans," Ghost said in a statement on Twitter late Thursday. "We decided not to continue out of respect to him and his family. Ghost and all who work with us ask that you please send the family your thoughts, prayers and respect their privacy during this time."

The Milwaukee Medical Examiner said the man was transported to Columbia St. Mary's hospital, where he died later Thursday evening of natural causes. No autopsy was planned. His name and other details were not released.

After learning of his passing, Ghost posted a follow-up statement on social media Friday morning.

"This morning we learned that the man taken to the hospital from our show last night in Milwaukee passed away from natural causes," Ghost posted. "Our hearts are broken for him & his family. Again we ask you to send the family your prayers, condolences & respect their privacy during this time."

Ghost's concert fell on the eve of Friday's release of its fourth studio album "Prequelle."

Earlier Thursday, the band had teased on social media that it would be making a midnight appearance Thursday in Milwaukee. It was likely to be at the Exclusive Company, which had announced a special midnight opening at its East Side store to celebrate the album's release.

Mysterious metal band Ghost canceled its Riverside Theater show in progress Thursday after a fan collapsed at the start of intermission. CPR was issued and the fan was transported to a Milwaukee hospital. His name and condition were not immediately known.

After the show was canceled, Ghost's social media posts hinting at a Milwaukee appearance were taken down.

Unfortunately at the outdoor barn here, so this is the second time I'll miss them here. Although if I haven't started working by then, I could go to my daughter's and see them in VA.

Tobias Forge recently hinted that Ghost would be releasing new music before the Re-Imperatour kicks off later this year. They released a new song called “Jesus He Knows Me” today (Easter Sunday). Tried to share it here, but it says it’s age restricted, and only available on YouTube.

I know there won't be any screenings near me so I am just waiting on a physical media release.

While I couldn’t find a comprehensive list of theaters, I was able to use Fandango to determine that a Cinemark theater near me will be showing it on both the 20th & 22nd. You might try that to see if there are any screenings in your area. I’m also hoping for a physical media release.

Here’s the synopsis from Fandango:

Quote:

Shot over the course of GHOST’s two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ hallowed Kia Forum, RITE HERE RITE NOW is so much more than a concert movie. GHOST’s first ever feature film combines mesmerizing live performances with a narrative story arc that picks up plot threads from the band’s long-running webisode series. The result is an utterly unique phantasmagorical blend: Flesh and bone renditions of favorites from all five of GHOST’s albums as well as the RIAA platinum-certified “Mary On A Cross” and more are interwoven with the silver screen debuts of a few faces familiar to the band’s legions of fans. Whether you’re a devoted disciple looking to relive treasured memories of the GHOST live spectacle or among the curious uninitiated, RITE HERE RITE NOW will put you right there: putting your phones down and living in the moment—completely spellbound and in the thrall of this bombastic yet intimate cinematic portrait of GHOST.

Thanks, but Fandango is only available in the U.S. But tickets go on sale tomorrow so I'll try to find a screening close by.

Booked the movie for Saturday 06/22 because I’m seeing THE CHURCH in Brooklyn on 06/20.

Well, that took a turn.

Got in for the presale this morning. Checked a couple sections, and there's one spot that has pretty much an unobstructed view and is only one seat in the row. Ticket price was $126.25. A little higher than expected, but it is Ghost and they have a huge production. Plus it's a bigger arena than anywhere else I've seen them. So far, so good.

But...it's a Ticketmaster show. I don't really mind the $5 to send a physical ticket - I'd rather have the physical ticket, plus this is a phone-free show, so I'd rather avoid the lock/unlock process. I can live w/o the phone for a few hours, although as my wife said, it's going to be harder to entertain myself during the down time. But...it's Ticketmaster. $26.35 service fee ("shared" between TM, venues, etc.). $6.25 facility fee (to the venue). $7.50 order processing fee ("often shared" between venues, TM, and teams - I'm guessing that includes artists). $39.10/$44.10 on a $126.25 ticket, or 31%/35% above the ticket. And don't get me started on the additional $30 for each of the two seats closest to the aisle in the lower bowl - that's right, I can pay extra for the "convenience" of letting the drunks get up every three songs so they can grab another beer so they can really yell "woo" during "He Is".

I couldn't do it. I'm not saying I won't do it, but I couldn't do it today. I'll may wait to see if there's a reduced price option, or I may try general sales Friday to see if I can get the front row of the upper bowl at $79 (they're locked as of now). Then again, maybe not - the second row is open at $69 - with $30 (43.4%) in fees. Apparently it costs $7 less in service for that seat, and almost $3 less of the facility.

The last show I bought tix for was Reb Beach - $25 tix, $2.50 in fees.

It'll suck if I miss Ghost, but at least my money won't be going to Ticketmaster that night.
