In 1992, many of the biggest fan favorites left Marvel to form Image, creating a sort of "dream team" of creators that was able to compete with the Big Two for a brief period of time. But I know that for many here, that particular group of creators aren't your person dream team, so I'm curious -- if you could get six comic book creators or creative teams to launch a shared universe of characters together, which six would you choose? There's no rules, the creators can be living or dead. Or if you're feeling particularly motivated, you could even do a team of living creators and a team of retired or otherwise inactive creators. And -- GO!

I'd probably want to do a '30s style pulp universe. This is dating mystelf, but I think for writers I'd love to have: Len Wein Roger Stern Paul Levitz Nicola Cuti Donald Glut Bruce Jones And for artists (who'd sometimes write their own stories): Joe Kubert Alex Toth Steve Ditko Tom Sutton Frank Thorne Val Mayerik And I'd have Archie Goodwin edit the whole thing, while writing the occassional story, too. Jeez, I've edited this multiple times already.

I'd normally want to put Erik Larsen, Mike Mignola, and Mike Allred in there but they kinda already did this with lengthy runs on Savage Dragon, Hellboy, and Madman. Same with Steve Rude on Nexus and Will Eisner on The Spirit (and he doesn't like superheroes anyway). That all said... - Jack Kirby
- Steve Ditko
- Edmond Hamilton & Wallace Wood
- Alan Moore & Brian Bolland
- 80s Frank Miller & Frank Quitely
- Darwyn Cooke

They already did it. It was called "Legend."
John Byrne, Art Adams, Frank Miller and Mike Mignola.
To make it 6, I would add Walt Simonson and Ann Nocenti or Louise Simonson.

Okay...here goes... Steve Gerber, John Buscema, Ross Andru, Wendy Pini, Mike Ploog, Bill Mantlo. I'd love to see what they would've come up with. Their 'evil twin' counterparts, whose collaborative work I'd never want to see, is as follows... Frank Springer, Vince Colletta, Denny O'Neil, Frank Robbins, Bob Brown, Don Heck. ...just....you know....to be fair and balanced.

I'll do an alternate reality that branches off in 1988, my own personal golden age. So ... after the First Comics thang, but before Image.
1. Chris Claremont and Alan Davis (a la Excalibur) 2. Peter David and Kyle Baker, the latter drawing in his pre-computer, "Cowboy Wally" style 3. Larry Hama, Marc Silvestri and Dan Green (even though in real life Hama and Silvestri didn't team up 'till 1990) 4. Ann Nocenti, John Romita Jr. and Al Williamson 5. Alan Moore and Bill Sienkiewicz (If "Big Numbers" had been retooled to fit into a superhero universe, they probably would have finished it) 6. Dave Sim (likewise, if Dave Sim had quit Cerebus around issue 150, so much creative disaster could have been avoided)
