i knew it would come down to this, but then so did we all.Pure personal preference favours Sturdy Steves extremely gracefull and dynamic and quirky visuals.Kirby has the edge on raw power,but Ditko wins for me.
And those Ditko hands!!

This was by far the hardest one yet. How do I choose between these two? I mean Kirby is Kirby fer cryin' out loud! But Ditko....I mean...Spider-Man people! Spider-Man!!
This took some time, but in the end I had to go once again with Jack Kirby. For the sheer volume of work, the pure power of it all, and the larger number of enduring characters created under his pencil.
And this was indeed torturous for me. I mean, I have a Ditko Spidey tattoo, so you can imagine how hard it was to make this choice.

Both are incredible artists, but Kirby created whole mythologies at DC and at Marvel, pretty much defined the Marvel-style of storytelling layouts, meaning he defined how superhero comics would look for the next 40 years, and counting, and he could do more with a six-panel page than any artist I've seen.

Kirby, his run of FF alone would cement it for me but his other works put him over the top(New Gods, Mr. Miracle, The Demon, etc.) not to mention his work on the Avengers and X-men, Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandoes, the list goes on and on.

This is one of those crucial choices that all comic book fans must inevitably make, and it's an incredibly difficult choice as it basically defines what kind of fan you'll be. Do you follow the super-science and explosive action of Kirby, or will you be a fan of the moody mysticism of Ditko?
Fortunately I made my choice long ago: The King gets my vote.
