The last episode of Law and Order: SVU even eluded to his character a few times. I wonder if they did that since they knew he was sick.

RIP. I liked his Munch character in L&A a lot. I saw him in person at one of Lou Reed's Berlin concerts in 2006.

RIP, Belz, and thanks for the enjoyment.

Similar to ICE-T, it was so strange to me that L&O: SVU took people I was so familiar with from other forms of entertainment and linked them integrally with TV Cop roles. I was much more familiar with Belzer part of that early 80s comedy wave, than as an actor. But 25 years in the same role is amazing.
