THR reports from CinemaCon: Quote: Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tom Rothman was in rare form as he went through the studio’s lineup, including announcing that there will be next installments in the Ghostbusters and Venom franchises (no details were announced).

I found the new one entertaining. Certainly nothing earth shaking, but fun and no worse than the original, which, even though I am a Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd fan, I thought was pretty weak.

I know that's an unpopular opinion.
(And I will confess I have not seen the Melissa McCarthy version)

The world is just coming around to the realization that Ghostbusters was never good to begin with.

The Saturday morning cartoon show was pretty good. Sort of a "Muppet Babies done right."

That first movie, and that one alone, was excellent. It's the later attempts to spin into a franchise that I take issue with (and ignore as a result).

The Paul Feig movie was the failure. Afterlife was good enough. If they continue to respect the tone and style of the '80s originals then there's no reason this couldn't be a long-running series.

I haven't seen Afterlife, but I'd give it a look.

But this is our defining moment of unity; Ghostbusters isn't very good. Jeff and Li'l Jay agree about something...and they're both wrong. There are movies where something like this would be a sign of some type of impending apocalypse. Thankfully this is IMWAN. The apocalypse has become irrelevant.

That's because it was a direct shot at me, one which will not be forgotten. (Although candidly I had forgotten it).
