Why is it a pig? It's not drawn by Wally Wood, but there's nothing wrong with the first issue.
My intention--and admittedly not well conceived nor executed nor even correct--was to refer to most (if not all) retellings,
revamps, and reboots as being akin to a pig with horrible makeup on it. But that indicates the source material is a pig,
and rather a plain-looking or pre-ugly one at that. That was not what I was trying for. Pigs don't require makeup to look
okay is all. Beyond that, I don't exactly hate the re-origins and make-up added over the years to the DD story.
I am still a big fan of DD #1, especially of the bull-pen-finished effort that went into getting the issue onto the stands.
