Do we know if the DVD will include a surround sound mix? I certainly hope so. That, along with the awesome Shaw & Pack participating, would make this a no-brainer purchase for me.

well... it's not a masterpiece, but it is SO much better than the last studio album. it's honestly got some very good material on it (the guest artists don't hurt). i do miss the requisite instrumental, however.

I duuno...the last album made Jason Mraz palatable to me (for a song, at least)

Renny, you have to stop using Amazon third party sellers to determine the value of out of print music. They are not market value. There are many other sources that sell Parsons' last few albums for $10-$15. But I totally agree with you about buying new releases that you are interested in pretty quickly these days, as most don't stay in print very long.

i know, but even just thought of them asking that much astounds me.

In the liner notes for the new album Mr. Parsons describes Phil Spector as having a "poor reputation in later life." I'll just leave it there.
He's not wrong.
i suppose many aren't familiar with our 'pillar of the community,' brother Phil. if they'd decided to close the album with a remake of a Charles Manson song, would Parson's have commented similarly?

I suppose not, but that's not the comparison I'd make. The moral trajectories are different. Manson's notoriety was always about his criminal acts. Spector's story was more about a fall from grace. Doesn't make him any better as a person, but there was a period when his fame was based on his artistic achievements. I think a more apropos comparison would be O.J. Simpson. But it's definitely vastly understated, like saying Simpson had "relationship issues".
