Description
• 39 tracks across 2 CDs
• Includes recordings from Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page
• Includes a 16-page booklet with new liner notes by David French
• Featuring 'For Your Love', 'Shapes Of Things' and 'Heart Full Of Soul'

Edsel Records is proud to present ‘Heart Full Of Soul’ – a new ‘Best Of’ collection that gathers together 39 tracks from across the Yardbirds’ career.

Formed in London in 1963, the Yardbirds were one of the most influential bands of the 1960s. With their mix of forward-thinking pop singles, wiry blues numbers, and instrumental freakouts, they became pioneers of psychedelia, garage and blues rock.

Along with the core line-up of Keith Relf (vocals and harmonica), Jim McCarty (drums), Paul Samwell-Smith (bass), and Chris Dreja (rhythm guitar), the group are known for launching the careers of three of rock’s most famous guitarists, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page.

Assembled with the assistance of the band, this new compilation is the first official collection in over a decade to gather together tracks from across the Clapton, Beck, and Page eras, showcasing the vast musical progression that the band made between 1963 and 1968.

Includes 39 tracks across two CDs plus a 16-page booklet with photographs, and new liner notes by David French.

This looks like a first-rate comp with nice packaging, it’s band authorized and the track listing is excellent.

Very nice!

I added a link to your post (the release is out of print), but it's a shrill, trebley mess like virtually all of Rhino's "classic" releases through 2003. Not how The Yardbirds should be heard.

Based on Edsel/Demon's handling of The Yardbirds' catalogue in the past, I would expect the new compilation to sound much better.

Stick with it if you're happy. *

Never heard the Raven one, but in regards to Yardbirds reissues, for me no label has bested what's come out of Demon over the years. (Demon is the parent company of Edsel.) Repertoire has also been good. My gauge for how 1960s British groups should sound is based on the sound of the original UK vinyl I managed to collect growing up.

* I think that everyWAN should own the full Yardbirds catalogue on CD, not just a compilation. A truly great band who are still given too little credit for how influential they were.

I let this slip from my radar. Curious if any picked up and what is the opinion of the sound? I have a number of comps of various vintage, so between them I have most of the tracks. Thanks.

I got this last week and it’s really well done.

Best sound quality I’ve had on a Yardbirds release although the early live recordings still sound a bit primitive which is understandable.

I’m glad they included all of the latter-day singles too.

Mine arrived the other day. Immediately did a comparison with the Rhino 2 CD comp. Renny, I'm with Linda on this one. I always thought the Rhino comp was pretty good but by comparison it really is a "shrill, trebley mess." Honest.
