my first report as a 33 yr old! sigh.
Atheist #1 (curious about this title)
Imaginaries #1 (cute idea)
JSA #72 (my first caught-up-with-JSA issue!)
Mosquito GN (this sounds really interesting)
Ultimate X-Men #58 (hope this is better than the majority of the Longshot arc)

Surprisingly nothing. I put Black Panther #3, Conan (1 of 3), Ultimate X-Men, and Ultimates #5 in my box on hold until next week. I'm spending my week reading:
Spider-Woman 1-18: Won this off of ebay, never had the chance to pick it up when it came out. I'm about halfway through the run and enjoying it.
Champions 11-15, 17: Thanks Dave, I've been looking for these and now I can add them to my ByrneBox(after I read them of course).
Battlestar Galactica 1-23: The original Marvel series, been looking for a complete run for a while and got lucky.

Am I the only person actively not wanting to get the Countdown book thingie?
...I dunno...after Identity Crisis, I just can't get worked up over this thing (even the 'shocking' bit - the done-for-shock-value thing is getting old for me...but then, it has been two years since I had my 33rd birthday, so maybe I'm just getting old and crabby )

I'm right there with you on the number of birthdays since 33, Ian. I wasn't going to get Countdown until I heard a number of positive reviews of its contents (minus the last page.)

That's OK Ian, it's a great book. Of course I tore out the last page in mine! Increased the enjoyment factor 100%.

i read BLOOD OF THE DEMON #2 last night... another strong issue and incredibly gory/brutal... love it! great guest-star at the end of the book, too.

I skipped Countdown and Identity Crisis.
(Wish I would have skipped DK2.)

The fundimental problem with Countdown is the fact that it is a top notch story, gripping, interesting, Beetle comes into his own in the best story ever written for him. And for what. pffft.
JSA 72 - Great Read. Interesting Power Girl development (though to what end?). Geoff is starting to set up Infinite Crisis, which actually is a minus for me, but the rest of the issue is marvelous. 8/10
The Imaginaries 1 - Yeah, this is going on my recommend list for now. Not totally sure where the story is going to go but it's pretty interesting so far. Conceptually there is a good story here, something you possibly could frame a film around, but we'll have to see how it plays out. See how deep they can mine their story potential.
Not much else interested me this week.

JSA 72: Im not a fan of Kramer's art..but this issue he won me over...nice double page spread and action scenes..the colors were great this issue as well! Lots of crisis hints...the time ripple in 1985, Degaton mentions the Huntress being wiped out...cool stuff and a great ending to a great story!...8/10
Bloodhound 10: Im gonna miss old Clev. A tough brutale old school middle aged action hero ala Bronson, Arnie, Eastwood, etc. he kicks ass and takes names. Its a shame this series was canned...great story and art..8/10
24 One shot by IDW: just started getting into the show so I said why not check out the comic and im glad I did...its a cool story set prior to season 1 as jack joins CTU and meets Nina Myers...lots of fast paced action as Jack fights the IRA...great self contained issue...every 2 pages was one hour "real time"...hope to see more of this by IDW...9./10
Xmen the end #2: some cool moments..Claremont has some intersting plot points and its a cool epic Xmen story. Plus I feel CC really nails the "voice" of the X characters better than anyone...but this series feels a little decompressed (you'd think he'd tie up his loose ends in a frikken mini series called "THE END"!...7/10
Ultimates 5: big fight issue..Hitch lets loose and it is sweet to see...very cool turning point that answers some questions but asks some more...lots of fun...9/10
Adam Strange 7: a lot is explained this issue..and we get a very cool set up for another big battle in space. great cliffhagner as well and the art by Ferry is GORGEOUS...the man has a great design sense when it comes to alien worlds, buildings, etc...great mini...10/10
Iron Man 3: worth the wait...lots of action and some gorgeous art by Granov...the fight scene was amazing...too bad it will be a while before issue 4 but what are you gonna do?....10/10
Last of the Independants OGN - not as good as I expected but still a fun caper/action romp. Bank robbery, mobsters, and lots of shooting...but the characters didnt really connect with the readers and the art suffered due to the type of paper...fun book but not as memorable as I thought it would be...6/10

Ultimates 2 # 5
Adam Strange #7 I was going to pick up the new issue of Action ( first time in a loooong time for that title ), but it reeked of Countdown crossover, so I decided against it.

Regarding Adam Strange #7...
We finally find out who the bad guy is. Diggle dusted off a moldy-oldy villain with few appearances ... but he's one of my faves.
Spoiler (highlight the area below to see info) /Spoiler
Great job. I'm gonna have to hunt down other stuff by Diggle.

I picked up...
JSA #72 -- Thoroughly enjoyed this issue. A strong closing to the JSA/JSA arc. Per Degaton has got to be one of my favourite villains, the guy IS creepy. Geoff Johns was at his usual level of performance (brilliant). Art by Don Kramer was fantastic. I think he is dependable and fairly solid as penciller, but he stepped it up a notch this issue. I don't like how he draws noses though. LOVED the Crisis references near the end... Huntress? 1985? Power Girl? Yummy for this fanboy. 10/10
Breach #4 -- I'm still on the bubble with this book. The first issue was stellar (cover art aside), but the last three less so. The art by Marcos Martin is strong. I really enjoy his style... sort of a cross between Darwyn Cooke and Geoff Darrow if you can believe that. The writing by Harras has been a bit spotty, but ok. The slow pace (vis a vis the core story) is putting me off. Also, the main bad guy looks a bit goofy, so I have a hard time seeing him as a big threat. I'm in for at least two more issues then I'll reassess. The panel with J'onn J'onnz getting roasted is worth an extra rating point. 7/10
Adam Strange #7 -- Looking forward to the conclusion of this mini. I've enjoyed it -- the art and story have been well above average -- but, admittedly, I'm not a huge Adam Strange fan. I picked this up when I heard the Omega Men would be involved and I haven't been disappointed. Would it be so wrong for me to say I wish Rann had been destroyed? I think Adam was much more compelling in the first six issues than he was in the seventh. I'm also turned off by the Rann/Thanagar War mini coming up. Does that mean the conclusion to this one will be open ended? Oh well. 7/10
New Thunderbolts #7 -- A filler issue. I was excited when I heard Bill Sienkiewicz would be providing some of the art, but I didn't enjoy it that much. I think the transitions between him and Grummett were simply too jarring. I didn't enjoy this much, but have enjoyed the series thus far. 5/10

Can someone give me a synopsis of The Imaginaries? What's it about?
Also, should I be picking up Black Panther? Love JR Jr art, but was underwhelmed by #1. This page from #3 tells me I probably should be buying it though...

Wow, Robert! You'll be stuck in the sevenites fer a week! I just got a Defenders run myself, and some are great, with a few serious clunkers.
I go to the LCAS today; watch this space!

Rob H - Andy DIggle has stated that the Adam Strange mini will have a definiet conclusion/closure..even though it sets up the War.
Jim L - Diggle is one of my favorite writers out there: He relaunched Swamp Thing - great 6 issue arc thats out in trade format. And everyone here knows that the LOSERS is one of my favorite books out there. You can get the first issue free as a pdf from http://www.andydiggle.com

I know Per is a Swedish first name, but does "Degaton" mean anything? Is the guys name the equivalent of "Bill Johnson" but it sounds sinister?
I agree about the first issue of Breech. I thought it was a great new series, but it has gone downhill for me from there. That is one of the most goofy looking villains I have ever seen! Since he started out as a little aboriginal boy, I was confused about whether or not he was really evil for a bit.

Rob, I've read the first three issues and still feel like it barely contains enought story for one! The pace reminds me of that last Millar arc on Wolverine. Ahhh, but who can complain when you've got JRJR filling in the story with his art? This comic is definitely one of my guilty pleasures.
