i have read so many things, both good and bad, about this album.....and never, not once, have i seen it in a used, or for that matter, new, section of any B&M.

it will interesting to see why the 'deluxe' tag, cause form what i've read, and what little i've heard, it is a concept album.

In the first post, the description has been added and the pre-order link is now active.

Watertown is a concept album written and produced by the great Bob Gaudio of The Four Seasons. It sounds very much like what the Seasons were doing in the late '60s. This edition is remixed from the original masters and will have a few bonus tracks. Here's what the title track sounds like in its new mix (definitely an improvement over previous issues):

Watertown is a must for Four Seasons completists. Not sure if Frank Sinatra collectors would consider it among his finest albums, but it's my only Sinatra album. :)

Here's a playlist of Bob Gaudio sharing background info about the album:

Although not a Sinatra scholar by any means, prior to the recent reissue I had no recollection of ever seeing this cover or even hearing the album title. However hearing that Bob Gaudio from the Four Seasons produced this album inspired me to take a dive, purchasing this album after only hearing a couple minutes of the title track. And am I glad I did.

I wasn't really prepared for the sadness and naked emotions in the lyrics, and by the time my first spin reached the last track, I was in tears. Frank really showed a vulnerability that few men of his age were showing at that time. Here is a man whose wife leaves him, seemingly to find her own voice and to be in control of her happiness. And the male protagonist is not angry or bitter. He reminisces about past and present, and continues to profess his undying love for her. This, to many, was not characteristic Sinatra, and the album was a bomb on release and only gained appreciation years later.

Check this out if you want to go on a musical journey with a beautiful score that is not much like anything musical that Frank did before or after this album.

This is a daring album and a really good one.

I’ve always held it in high regard because it’s so different.
