With apologies to Renny...

Pete Townshend posted a video on IG today showing his studio and revealed he's working on the anniversary box set for "Who's Next"/"Lifehouse". He said they weren't able to do it this year in part due to Covid, but it's planned for next year.

Great news. I'm a big fan of the recent Who Sell Out boxed set, and would love to see Who's Next released in a super expanded form. Lots of material to include.

ya know, a 2 CD set of 'who's next' and a COMPLETED 'lifehouse' by the who (from then, not something townshend has been working on for the last 50 years by himself) might actually be a nice package.

but.......................................you knew it was coming...................they will throw in a live concert and a CD full of all those songs that have been released haphazardly over the last 50 years, add a vinyl disc and charge $150.

Lifehouse might require two CDs by itself, if it's really complete. I'll get this even if there's vinyl to throw out. I love, love, love when old albums are released as the artists originally intended.

Any guesses to how much of the Lifehouse Chronicles material makes it onto this box? Save at least a few tracks to keep that re-sale market alive, of course.

I want this to come as renny originally intended it to!

So cool!

The Who are still my #1 band so this, no matter what is in it, is a must buy for me. Christmas 2022?

No. This box should be released through Polydor/Universal.

Also, Neil Young will have very little say in what the contents will be. :)

I'm staying hopeful about the box set, but wow does this sound disheartening:

Pete Townshend Couldn't Save 'Crap' Lost '70s Who Song

It sounds like he's embarrassed about it all based on that brief interview. That's a shame. I'd still like to read the graphic novel but Lifehouse might be an intimidating thing for him to do - it's become pseudo-mythical and it might not be able to live up to the hype.

Like the TV show Out of The Trees, it might have gained a reputation it can't live up to.

I’d rather have a deluxe Who By Numbers, Who Are You, Face Dances or It’s Hard, but I’m odd that way.
