What I liked about his color analyst work was that he could explain stuff, making it simple to understand for those of us who don't comprehend everything related to the game.
Although I'm a Raiders fan, I was a touch too young to remember John as the Coach, although it was always something special to hear him talk about them.
Aside from Tagliabue, he might be the most important man in this history of the post-merger NFL; his common man commentary with the ability to explain the game in easy to understand terms opened it up for the casual fans, in a way that most of the ex-athletes just couldn't. And of course, from there, putting his name and imprint on the video game likely means he'll be one of the major names of the NFL for years to come.
And best of all - as the Coach with the highest winning percentage of any coach with 100+ wins, he Just Won, Baby
