I went with Doc Ock, but I almost selected Scorpion. I must have a thing for prosthetic appendages...

I've always been kind of partial to Mysterio. I like characters who use clever, almost borderline possible, gadgets.

I voted for Other -- "Our Man" from Blue Beetle #5. The greatest villain Ditko ever created, probably the greatest in comic book history, possibly in all of fiction.

The Leader - he was the villain in the first Marvel comic I ever read and I was duly impressed.

I went with Green Goblin. I think Sandman has the coolest powers and love the whole Dark Lord thing Dormammu has got going, but I think the "mystery villain" element was unique and made him a more personal villain for the time period than other arch enemies.

"Our Man" was a great villain, and I kind of like that he gets away but also swears never to put on the armor again. I mean, obviously he quits (it's in his nature; I'm surprised he even worked up enough gumption to get up off his ass in the first place), and of course he blames supernatural powers for stealing his victory. But the fact that he gets away, I think, is a reminder to the reader that his type of self-loathing, self-defeatism will always be there, a nagging, potential obstacle that will sometimes drag us down if we're not vigilant and self-confident enough to stand on our own two feet.
Or, at least that's how I looked it.

J. Jonah Jameson was the ultimate Ditko Villain; he cribbed an Ayn Rand speech in issue 19 or 20, and it was the ultimate statement of his statement of villainy

Doc Ock is my favorite villain on the list, but my favorite as portrayed by Ditko himself is Mysterio, so I went there.

A curious thing---many of Ditko's villains favor the color green.Aside from Green Goblin, there's also the Vulture, the Lizard,Electro,Mysterio,Scorpion...Mordo often wears green,Sandman has a green T-shirt...The Leader has green skin. A morsel for thought.

I think that has to do with wanting to have a contrast with Spidey's blue and red costume. There wasn't very many color options/variations in '60s comics.

There was an interview with Stan Lee I read once where he talked about using the secondary colours (notably green and purple) for villains to make them look different than the heroes, almost all of whom were in Primary Colours, It's not just Spidey's villains this impacted, but most of the MCU.

Green was more the villainous color. Dr. Doom, Mole Man, Kang, Loki, etc. I guess the heroes tended more towards heroic blue, with red as an obvious combo. That left green and purple to be available for contrast.
