The Steve Priest Line up was still doing some shows in North America pre-Covid (and had planned at least one show with Platinum Blonde here in Canada), but now that he's passed, I doubt those shows will happen. And as best I know, the Andy Scott version has done a few spot shows in Europe, but hasn't crossed the ocean in decades.
If you're seeing a new date for Sweet in North America (not a reschedule, but new) i would suggest doing a whole bunch of confirming research.

And the give away it's not live - listen to the stattaco (sp) clapping at the end of the first chorus from 0:55-1:00. The clapping sound doesn't match the vocalist's hands, none of the others are clapping at all, and it's not the drums. I will say it's not a pure album version since the mix on the show is making it sound different, but nope, not live

I saw the Steve Priest version in NYC a few years ago (pre COVID) and they were a lot of fun. Only one original member (Steve) but the songs held up and the crowd loved every minute of it. So glad I went downtown and saw the show (not easy for my now 61 year old body and stand up for a few hours at one of these venues).

Jason, you're exactly right. The bizarre rules of the British Musicians' Union forced artists to make new studio recordings specifically for television appearances, and then lip sync to those versions rather than the originals.

It was probably so the artist and the union could get a cut / performance fee for licensing original music to a TV program while cutting the record companies out of the profit. It's the same way you're seeing artists re-record songs under control by another record company as a means of getting around their contract. (see Swift, Taylor).
From the TV shows' perspective, it was to ensure that the artist didn't go rogue and play something naughty. Because there are some really great examples of artists taking advantage of live mics
