On the 11th June 2021, legendary British rock ‘n’ roll icons and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame® inductees Def Leppard will release Def Leppard – Volume Three, a new limited edition box set UMC/Mercury.

This set marks the third of four volumes of the band’s complete recorded output in a limited-edition CD box set. They contain all the recordings from the band in the 2000s and features the original packaging. The albums were re-mastered by Ronan McHugh and Joe Elliott at Joe’s Garage and cut by Greg Moore. Housed in rigid boxes the sets also contain a hard-backed book with rare photos by Ross Halfin and notes by Classic Rock Magazine’s Paul Elliott. Band members Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Rick Allen and Phil Collen have also contributed introductions to the set.

Def Leppard – Volume Three features 2002’s X, which was the group’s sixth consecutive Top 20 record on the Billboard 200 chart and features songs such as “Now”, “Four Letter Word” and “Long, Long Way to Go”. 2006’s Yeah! was the band’s first covers album featuring a collection of the groups favorite tracks re-recorded with the iconic Leppard sound. Def Leppard’s tenth studio album Songs from the Sparkle Lounge was released in 2008 and marked the band’s return to their signature sound and hitting the Top 10 both sides of the Atlantic. The album included the hit single “Nine Lives” which featured GRAMMY® Award winning country legend Tim McGraw.

Also included are B-Sides, Yeah! II and Yeah! Live. These albums have specially been compiled by Joe Elliott for this limited-edition release. B-Sides contains a rare compilation of B-sides that have never appeared on vinyl before. Yeah! 2 includes some never before released covers, Yeah! bonus disc exclusive release tracks and a compilation of the various covers recorded by the band over their career. Yeah! Live is a compilation of live recordings of covers by the band which include both tracks from 2006’s Yeah!, as well as previously unreleased live tracks from the past 30 years.

Pretty disappointing. 6 discs...3 discs of covers plus X which IMO is the worst album they've ever done. I'll likely get this to round out the collection, but really disappointed they couldn't come up with much better bonus material for this set. I was also expecting the self-titled album to be part of this collection...looks like that one is getting left out altogether.

I believe there was an announcement some time back that the first three boxes would be studio albums and the fourth box would be live albums.

This set is a perfect example of why it sucks to be a collector. What a miserable listen. After 20 years I still hate the X record and 10 of the 12 songs on the B-sides disc are X related so that disc sucks too. The three covers disc all had me uninterested within the first 15 minutes of putting them in the player. Still think the Sparkle album is really under-rated and enjoyed that one when going through this set. But yeah, "have the first two boxes so have to have this one" ends up as flushing $56 right down the toilet.

That sucks. I like Def Lep, but this box doesn't interest me in the slightest.
