Well, that felt a little weird - just bought concert tix for the first time in about 8-9 months. Oct. 2021 - Cheech & Chong.

The Monkees show we had tickets to in April was first rescheduled for July, and again to next March. I'll be shocked if it isn't rescheduled again.
Also have tix for Bernadette Peters in September (rescheduled from this September), Gordon Lightfoot (previously scheduled for this October, new date TBD) and The Zombies (next September).

I haven't looked at my rescheduled list in a while. Some, if not all, of the early ones will surely be rescheduled. I don't see any national-type touring before June.

All my 2021 concerts are in September or October so they may happen. Of course it would be big news if Gov Cuomo lifts restrictions by the Summer. I doubt it if there is even 1 corona case still around.

We did it.
We saw a real concert last night.
Not sure if I’m the first on here to do so, but if I am, I can tell you it was something I’ll never forget.
The second the lights went down, it was like everything was normal (and it’s not.) And “Miami 2017” was a great opener.
The venue is the Landis Theater in Vineland, NJ near the shore and to my knowledge, this is one of the only venues trying this, at least in the Northeast.
We wore masks and capacity was 25% and spacing was safe.
The act was Songs In The Attic, a fantastic Billy Joel tribute led by David Clark, who is the spitting image of Billy vocally, visually and in piano playing.
He’s very funny too.
The band includes guys who have played with Billy or in the Movin’ Out musical, so they are top notch.
I’ve seen Billy 7 times, but this was still fun and very good.
The venue is taking a loss right now to try this.
Upcoming shows include tribute acts to Bowie, Foreigner and others, but it’s not like they can easily get national acts right now.
They do have Quiet Riot coming, but that’s a tribute in itself I’ll pass on.
But I can tell you, this was something I didn’t know if I’d ever do again and it meant a lot to us and the band.
The audience was very responsible and we also had our temperature taken before entering.
There was no waiting time at all.
I don’t expect big venues to be able to stage shows, but the smaller ones like this, are going to find a way.
‘Twas a good night.

One of my local venues announced Trace Adkins for September 2021. Not that I have any interest in going. What I found somewhat amusing is that the show was changed to January 2022 before the tix went on sale.
I did see my favorite smaller venue plans on bringing in Samantha Fish in April. Reportedly, they do a pretty good job enforcing the mask requirements and distancing. I was about to say I have tix to two shows in April there, but I checked first and they're both postponed - Fozzy (which won't happen until they can do full capacity because it's sold out) and Ace Frehley.

After the cancellation of Ed O’Brien (Radiohead), I have only 3 more concerts still in play for this year. Primus, Pet Shop Boys/ New Order and finally Clannad. The way things are in NYC, I kinda doubt any of these happen. The thing that concerns me is they are letting a limited amount of people into the Garden or Barclays but you need a negative COVID test before you go (you need proof), then when you arrive they give you another quick COVID test (and you know it won’t be quick), a temperature check, sign some documents (guess guaranteeing you don’t sue), continue to wear the mask and stay well over 6 feet away from anybody else. So there is no way I’m gonna jump through hoops just to see a concert so I would elect for a refund then. Plus who gets to go to if a sold out Garden show is only allowed 10 or 20 or 30% of ticket holders? And this also translates to baseball. I was hoping we would be back to a sort of normal this Spring where I could go see the Mets and relax and have a beer and a hot dog. Not if I need 2 negative COVID tests and then have to sit far away from others. No annual Opening Day trip this year too. Looks like 2021 will be ruined too.

Just saw the Download festival has been rescheduled to June 2022. Another bad sign for this year. Somebody from Live Nation said last week that he thinks large-scale concerts will happen in the US this summer, but I agree with someone who replied to the posting about it - that's their way of not having to refund money. As someone else said, there's almost no chance they're going to get insurance for that kind of gathering this year.
I just looked at my ticket list - of all 10 or so shows I have tickets for, only four have scheduled dates right now. One in August, two in September, one in December. Only one is in a venue bigger than 2,000 capacity (Judas Priest/Sabaton) - that's in a small arena, so there's a slim chance.

I think we'll be seeing a ZZ Top cover band outdoors at Lake Las Vegas on May 1st. I can't fucking wait.

Both Roger Watters and Rage Against the Machine have postponed their tours for another year. So I expect to lose all of the big venue tours again this summer. So I'm down to hoping for the fall club tour season.
And in a very selfish way, I'm hoping for tour postponements, because the border's not going to be open until likely the fall, so I'd prefer the entire tour be postponed, instead of just cancellations of the Canadian dates.

Just saw that announcement here last week. I saw an interview w/a local promoter where he said maybe small to mid-sized shows in the fall, but forget the big national tours because they're not happening until next year. But today I saw that Ted Nugent said it's "bullshit" that tours are shutdown nationally because of COVID-19 because "Why weren’t we shut down for COVID one through 18?" (It was verified by Snopes.)

Because Nugent exemplifies “shut up and play yer guitar.”
Not that I would expect anything else from the guy that shit his pants to dodge the draft.

I was notified by Chris Sanella (who was also Jimbo’s concert buddy) that our Roger Waters tickets will now be for August 30th 2022 at MSG. So yeah 2021 will be another wipeout for big concerts. Some smaller jazz like artists like the Levin Brothers are planning a small NY region tour in June so that’s at least something. Personally I will be thrilled when smaller venues like LI’s Paramount Theater reopens. No word on if Jones Beach will open this Summer. They are all done outdoors but capacity restrictions make tours unprofitable for many groups.

I'd also think that the venues' revenue model is based on a 70%-ish capacity because of vendor sales, etc. (beer!!) I know that the Amphitheatre here in town has had to heavily discount some tickets to drive attendance. So they'd probably prefer a full postponement to a limited capacity gig. Not to mention trying to enforce social distancing at a rock show would lead to violence in a some cases, and who wants that headache?

Just heard that PRIMUS at the Beacon Theater is now moved to September 30th 2021, so there is a chance I get to see a concert in NYC this year. Just waiting to hear if they keep the date for the Pet Shop Boys or move that to 2022.
