There's also going to be a much more expensive box set with the album on CD and two LPs along with a live Blu-ray from the "Welcome 2 America" tour. The video will be exclusive to that box, but it's not yet clear whether the box will be exclusive to Prince's website or will become a less pricey general release.

well done joseph,
sadly, it is the way it is becoming isn't it.
package a whole bunch of shit together and force the consumer to buy the whole package just to get the item he/she wants.
total and un unrequited bullshit.

After thinking about it, I'm passing on the this release completely in protest of not being able to get the Blu-ray at a fair price. Really an easy decision considering how disposable entertainment is. Lots of other music to listen to, or different forms of entertainment to spend my time and money on.

my feelings about the 'deja vu' release.

If the big box bothers you, just get the Welcome 2 America CD by itself and wait to see if the Blu-ray is released separately down the road.
Agreed, and the route I am taking. For as many concerts on DVD, Blu-ray I have (not tons) they get little play. Prince's performances are outstanding, but again, don't really watch them too often. Much rather have a concert on disc. And when it comes to Prince I have had pretty good luck on getting good to great gray discs of many of the tours. But when the stand alone comes out, I'll probably get it. But could not pass up the album itself.
While I like the idea of the Diamonds and Pearls box, I am a bit disappointed there is not something focused on Under A Cherry Moon, ATWIAD, Lovesexy (!) prior to it.

The set list for the Blu-ray as posted at the Prince store:
Quote:
Blu-Ray
Joy In Repetition Brown Skin (India.Arie cover) 17 Days Shhh Controversy Theme From “Which Way Is Up” (Stargard cover) What Have You Done For Me Lately (Janet Jackson cover) Partyman It’s Alright (Graham Central Station cover) Make You Feel My Love (Bob Dylan cover) Misty Blue (Eddy Arnold cover) Let’s Go Crazy Delirious 1999 Little Red Corvette Purple Rain The Bird (The Time cover/Prince comp) Jungle Love (The Time cover/Prince comp) A Love Bizarre (Sheila E cover/Prince comp Kiss Play That Funky Music (Wild Cherry cover) Hollywood Swingin’ (Kool & the Gang cover) Fantastic Voyage (Lakeside cover) More Than This (Roxy Music cover)
Frankly, those covers should be great (or at least interesting), and I am going to take the plunge for the box.

Has a Diamonds and Pearls box been announced? I can't find any info on it, but would be very happy to get one (along with anything for the other albums you mentioned).

Where was there info on a Diamonds & Pearls box?
I love that album.

Re diamonds and pearls
This was discussed in a thread from another site. Apparently this is a rumor up to this point upon re-review. As it was mentioned a few times, I simply passed on without tagging rumoured. My apologies. Will wait and see.

It certainly seems plausible.

But, in case anyone does not know - on RSD there will be a vinyl of Truth - the 'acoustic' extra disc that came with Crystal Ball. If one does not have the disc, I would not hesitate to recommend.

"60 Minutes" had a segment tonight on Prince, the release of this album this summer, and Prince's "vault" with its huge trove of audio and video recordings. Just so incredible how he seemed to be constantly creating music.
