In his heyday, the masked man appeared everywhere.Even now,he shows up in the occasional comic book or movie flop.

Actually, I enjoyed both of the serials (all English copies were destroyed by the studios, so what I saw
were chapter serials restored from foreign copies, where the restoration tried its best to cover the translation
text (by cropping and overlaying images).

But Clayton Moore is the best Lone Ranger, the iconic version that everyone else pales before.

Yes. But strangely, he would make a pretty good Lone Ranger.

A cartoon from the '30s,apparently part of an ad campaign.

A remade trailer for the recent movie.

This is the one I remember. The one with Christopher Lloyd as Butch Cavendish...

The same one Darin mentioned - I'd seen some episodes with Clayton More on TV, but I saw that one at the movies in 1981 and I loved it. I haven't seen it since but my memory of it is that it was great.

“John” Reid
Six Rangers were ambushed and left for dead,
gunned down at the bottom of Bryant’s Gap.
Six graves were dug, yet five men laid to bed.

Captain Dan Reid’s brother survived this trap,
saved by his potawatomi nikan.
Gunned down at the bottom of Bryant’s Gap,

six lawmen were betrayed then set upon
by The Butch Cavendish Gang. One remains
(saved by his potawatomi nikan).

He’s become the masked rider of the plains,
a daring, resourceful champion (made
by The Cavendish Gang). One remains

with him, Tonto, gives Kemosabe aid.
Their thunder echoes on hoof beats of fire.
A daring, resourceful champion made

law and order goals for which we aspire.
Six Rangers were ambushed and left for dead.
Their thunder echoes on hoof beats of fire.
Six graves were dug, yet five men laid to bed.
