Quote: LINDA MCCARTNEY RAM Nice touch. We're bound to get a bunch of 50th anniversary editions from this list. Hopefully Straight Up and ELO's debut, two of my all-time favourite albums, will be among them.

Most are stone cold classics and many I have bought over and over on all formats.

I owned 19 of them. I even produced a local radio commercial for Led Zeppelin IV, "on sale now in the record department at Uncle Bill's." Was music better then or is it just us?

I’ve got 19 if I recall and count correctly. The album that that I think should be on here but isn’t is Traffic’s “The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys”.

I was 8 in 1971, but had a dozen of these by the end of the '70s; courtesy of S. Claus, and my paperboy gig.

I have all but five: Cat Stevens- Teaser and the Fire Cat James Taylor- Mudslide Slim and the Blue Horizon Carly Simon- Anticipation Graham Nash- Songs For Beginners Uriah Heep- Look at Yourself I have most on vinyl, and all the ones I own I have on CD as well, often in multiple versions. For instance, I have five versions of the Allman's Live At Fillmore East, four of Linda's Ram. It was a very good year for music. A couple of years ago a friend gave me a box including a full run of Rolling Stone magazine from 1970- 1972. I only read the review sections, but every issue for 1971 had at least one enduring classic in it.

I had probably a dozen of these out of the gate when they were first released. And all but a few of them in one form or another since then. I'm with Linda on this, too; I would love it to death to see some killer 50th anniversary box sets this year. And I think any one of us could add another two dozen albums to this list and then complain and debate the whole thing like we do with all these lists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1971_in_musicRenny wrote: run, don't walk, run out today to your favorite record store and get yourself a copy of graham nash's 'songs for beginners'..........you can thank me after you have listened to it for the 10th time in a row I second this! And I DID sometimes listen to this album 10 times in a row! I used to be a king!

I counted them up and have 41 of them, the only missing pieces were the James Taylor and the CSNY. Don’t think I have those but I might. I do have tons of other James Taylor and CSNY releases. Was there a CSNY box set, maybe it’s on there?
*edit* it’s the live album so I didn’t own that one on vinyl back in the day (had the first 2 albums). I must have it on CD somewhere though.**
Anyway almost all are must owns at the very least. A few would be desert island discs like Who’s Next/ Aqualung/ The Yes Album/ Nursery Cryme/Sticky Fingers/ Zep IV/ Tarkus for me.

I have 32 of them - all on vinyl when they first came out...and the majority on cd - at least one copy.
They overlooked The Mothers Fillmore East June 1971. - also the soundtrack of 200 Motels

Well at least we all have come out on the other side and enjoyed all this great music for all these years.

For me, when I throw in Long John Baldry's " It Ain't Easy " and Ten Years After's " A Space In Time ", this is the greatest ever year for rock albums.
