So, how much better would MAN OF STEEL have been if they had used the John Williams score? I can tell you I might have enjoyed it much more...

They should have. The James Bond franchise is going on 60 years old, and it still gets my pulse going when I heard that Bond theme in the opening early scenes. Why wasn't there one executive/suit or creative that just made a command decision: "Of course we're going with the Williams theme -- you can do new arrangements and a new score, but those classic beats will still be there." It's like Rocky or something. You want that reaction from the audience.

It wouldn't have hurt, but wouldn't have made it a better movie. It didn't turn Superman Returns into something to write home about.

But I agree with Jay....it should just be the default Superman music from now on.

I love the Williams theme as much as anyone, but Zimmer's MOS theme was, along with the casting, one of the few truly great things about that wretched film.

Yeah, but imagine how much worst Superman Returns would have been without it.

I like the music from those early Fleischer Superman cartoons.
I just wished that we had gotten a Fleischer Batman series from the same era.

I'm kinda partial to the Shirley Walker Superman theme from the Timm/Dini animated era...
