With 1978's brilliant album "Alive On Arrival," Steve Forbert made one of music's greatest entrances ever, arriving fully formed as an extraordinary singer-songwriter, a subtle troubadour for his times, and for all time too. Now or then, you would be hard-pressed to find a debut effort that was simultaneously as fresh and accomplished as "Alive On Arrival."

"Jackrabbit Slim," released the following year hot on the heels of its predecessor, is full of songs that are among Forbert's most enduring. The opening track, "Romeo's Tune" became Steve's greatest hit, cracking the Top 20 and propelling this album to Gold status.

This special 40th anniversary edition includes a remastered for 2020 version of "Jackrabbit Slim" along with the original Japanese master of "Alive On Arrival," and exclusive outtakes from the original recording sessions.

Some clarity for Steve Forbert collectors:

The forthcoming 40th Anniversary Edition (shown above in the first post) features a new 2020 remastering of Jackrabbit Slim and the original Japanese master of Alive On Arrival, along with a bunch of bonus tracks.

The 35th Anniversary Edition (which has Alive on the first disc and Jackrabbit as the second disc) is still available at Amazon as well:

IMO you should order the previous edition from Amazon while it's still in print -- or rather, while Amazon still has copies remaining in stock from the first (and I believe only) pressing:

It's currently $3 cheaper than the forthcoming newer edition and has one additional track.
