I know Lawrence Talbot brought some awareness to this trio from Houston in the Drought of 2020 thread but I'm wondering if there are any fans of this group out there in IMWANland...?

Since I first read a review and feature of them in the NYTimes in June I have been hooked on these guys.

A lot of comments focus on the Black drummer, mostly describing him as a stay in the pocket, metronome-tutoring drummer.
And then there is Laura Lee, the absolutely blissful bass player. Never seen somebody look so happy just to play bass...
The guitarist looks like Ritchie Blackmore but plays like Steve Cropper meet Dick Dale.
Musical influences from all around the world. Middle East, Africa...also described as surf music meets soul.
Another comment was - this must be what the inside of my lava lamp sounds like....

I have three of their albums so far and they are really seductive and chilled out.
Once you have gotten hooked on the music there are quite a few videos, ranging from Tiny Desk Concert on NPR to Pitchfork Live.

Would love to hear opinions if you have a chance to hear them...

Thanks to this thread, I'm now a fan.

....and that's Stephen K Amos in the video, too. :)

They can be very addictive as many other fans have commented...

Pleased to see this thread, djgarver!

I also have three of their albums and a couple EPs (particularly loved the Texas Sun EP with Leon Bridges).

Almost saw them in concert last year. It sold out very quickly.

One of my fave songs from 2018:

That's one of the songs that I downloaded to check them out.
Count me among the converted.
Thank you, djgarver.

Glad to help out!

I'm sure there will be more as soon as people have a chance to hear them.

They have a confidence and calmness about their music which really hits the spot in these times.

I'm starting to hear them in things like in between commercials at the NHL playoffs, so they are certianly gathering attenetion...

Recently got into this band. I like their vibe. I'd love to see them live.
