spent many hours looking for that one song on that one various artist or soundtrack or tribute or rare b-side CD by an artist that i am a completist on. you completists all know what i am talking about. then, as the internet got more and more sophisticated, those songs became easy to get, either as downloads or actually finding the CD online for a decent price.

well, lately i have been working on some CDR's and i came to glenn frey........with that very long career i have only been able to find 4 one-offs for frey: (if you know more jay, please help)

'it's cold in here' - a 'soul searchin" b-side

"ain't it love - a 'strange weather' b-side

'drivin wheel' a duet with b.b. king

'struggler's blues' - by jake trout and the flounders on which frey does a little vocals

i have also noticed that very few 'major' ('major' being the key word here) artists do NOT have at least one one-off in their repertoire.

the only one i can come up with after quite a bit of thought is loggins & messina...as far as i know (of course i could easily be mistaken)

any others?.

Could be that Universal’s license expired. The copyright is with NFA, which I assume is Glenn’s company and named after No Fun Aloud. Plus, from the outset it seemed like something of a vanity project with limited commercial appeal from a record company perspective.

possibly, or is t also possible that it just did not sell very well and when the initial run was gone, it was gone?

the version with the bonus tracks has be super-rare by now.

Consistent with my comment about the likely limited commercial appeal, I certainly would not be surprised if it was a one and done pressing.

Have to say I was surprised just now to find a still-sealed After Hours deluxe version in my collection. Who knew?

Can I throw one in from another artist, only because I love this song so much?

“The One” by Foo Fighters was included on the “Orange County” movie soundtrack album. I just totally dig it. It was released as a single in’02 but only in Australia and New Zealand. Later made available in the US and UK as an import. I actually love the whole soundtrack album. Second most favorite song that appears on it is Cake’s “Shadow Stabbing”. Really love that one too. It was, however, included on their “Comfort Eagle” album.
