Funny story. I knew about Regis WAY before he had the daytime gig because Mother told me he had a nervous breakdown on national TV, during the Joey Bishop show. Was it true? Who knows, but it did seem to dog his career until the talk show with Kathie Lee. I was at home on maternity leave and watched it as a guilty pleasure. It reminded me of those old radio shows out of NYC where the hosts would talk about the play they saw or party they went to.

RIP Regis. You were real.
