A comprehensive box set that covers the couple’s entire career and is a must-have for fans of Richard and Linda Thompson as well as a definitive introduction to a body of work which resonates, and is still revered today.

This 8 CD set featuring all 6 studio albums remastered from the original tapes, with a host of previously unreleased recordings including outtakes, demos and rarities along with live concerts from 1975 and 1977. This first ever comprehensive career retrospective was personally curated by Richard and Linda Thompson.

* Features all 6 studio albums plus non-album singles, B-Sides, Demos, Rarities and Previously Unreleased Live recordings

* 72 Page Hard Cover Book featuring 2 brand new essays plus rare and previously unseen photographs

Alongside the 3 classic Island Records releases, the box includes the long out of print albums, ‘First Light’ and ‘Sunnyvista’ and their final LP, ‘Shoot Out The Lights’. Disc one contains formative collaborations as solo performers with The Bunch and Brian Patten and disc five, live performances recorded at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in April 1975 The Theatre Royal, London in May 1977. The set also contains a 72-page hard cover book featuring brand new essays plus many rare and previously unpublished photographs by some of rocks greatest photographers including Keith Morris, Gered Mankowitz and Pennie Smith, as well as images from Richard and Linda’s own archives. Sleevenotes for the box set are written by Patrick Humphries and Mick Houghton.

I have the original CD pressings (on Ryko?) for all of the Richard & Linda albums, but this set has enough bonus material (and possibly better sound) that I will likely have to get it.

The autographed lithograph did not last long but was not available in North America, that would have been nice.
If the Bobbie Gentry set's sound is any indication this will be a real winner as Andy Batt also did this one. I will not be surprised if this one needs a second pressing, look what happened to the Sandy Denny and Fairport boxes.

The box is now pre-orderable from Amazon USA, but is so far showing just as an import (with a release date one week later than in the UK). Amazon UK's price is currently better, and they're now allowing pre-orders to North America. Amazon Canada will be joining the party soon.

Andy Batt is suggesting to use European sites now as there is some legal mumbo jumbo going on regarding the Shoot Out The Lights album, which is why it is showing as import only on American sites. Amazon.uk is the cheapest option anyway if you are going through them.

His statement and he should know as he put together the site "This set was already delayed because of the SOTL situation- there comes a time when you have to drawn a line. Maybe it will be sorted out at some point, but US fans are advised to buy from a European stockist"

Just a heads up for those that want to make sure they get a copy on or around the release date.

I got an e-mail from Amazon UK saying that I should expect delivery sometime between October 8th and December 7th. "By 8:00 pm" which seems unnecessarily precise for such a range of time. Not sure what I'll do. I only paid £57.84, which strikes me as an excellent price.

My amazon UK order just shipped and expected arrival date was 9/22 (I’m in Massachusetts). Total was a little under $80 with the high shipping but cheaper than US options.

So, good news is box arrived today, 9/15, a week earlier than Amazon UK said. No damage to the set and CDs look good.

Bad news...last track on disc 6 skips. Track 17 on disc 7 has digital noise. Playing disc 8 now. Just checking tracks identified on other boards as issues. I haven’t tried ripping the discs yet which is a whole separate issue. Too bad there are manufacturing issues as it’s a beautiful set.

Just tried disc 6 again and last track played fine this time. Listening to as much of the box as I can. It’s a nice package and good book with it. I’ll try ripping it in next few days on my old laptop. Hope yours arrives soon and is defect free.

There are major issues with people attempting to rip the set. If you had a light lunch there are a lot of comments on the subject at the Hoffman site.
