Bummed! I just saw him a year or so ago and he had so much energy for his age.

Apparently he just had what I had three years ago, a hemorrhagic stroke. Very sad!

My buddy is a huge fan. Never got to see him myself. Liked a fair bit of his music, especially "Reflections". Had a whole career before anyone knew his name.

83 is not exactly "too young", but it seemed like he was going to live forever.

Rest well, Mr. Daniels.

I remember one time - (in the early 90's?) he played Yankee Stadium - after the ballgame - wasn't expecting much but they put on a GREAT show. Wasn't sure how a country boy would go over in the South Bronx but it was very well received.

2020 continues to SUCK!

First Kenny Rogers and now Charlie Daniels. Country music icons are dying left and right. Very sad indeed.

Never had the chance to see him live, but enjoyed his music, especially from the beginnings until the early 80's. The guy is a national treasure.

I was at that Game! August 27, 1989. Mickey Mantle introduced him! Before the show, while they set up the stage, dozens of young girls in glittering cowgirl costumes lined up down the left and right field foul lines and danced. It was surreal. Then CDB came out and rocked the house. It was better than the game we had just watched! People jumped over the walls and started dancing on the field. It was a riot! I snuck in a bottle of Jack Daniels for the occasion. Had a good 'ol time. CDB played The Paramount in Peekskill, NY a half dozen times and I never missed him. Always a good show. I didn't even mind the couple of Christian songs he played at every show. I was shocked when I heard "Uneasy Rider" on Q104 today and then they announced his passing. Very sad. He will be missed.

He will be sorely missed. A character and a legend. Living in Central Texas as a elementary schooler when Urban Cowboy came out, I remember “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” being both ubiquitous and one of the most arrestingly cinematic songs I had ever heard. When the “Thriller” video was first shown on MTV, I remember thinking that “Devil” would have been a great subject for similar treatment. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Daniels.
