The iconic Gilmour strat will be up for sale on June 20th at Christie's NYC.

Hey John, just put Gilmour and Waters stuff in our Pink Floyd thread. They don't need separate topics. There isn't enough Floyd news to fill the main topic anymore now that the group is basically finished.

But we can still keep our Nick Mason thread, right?

For me Gilmour is an entity outside of Floyd with his solo albums, tours, charity work (the upcoming auction) and his immortal status as a rock guitarist icon. Floyd might be dead (at least at the moment) but Gilmour has continued to produce new material and staying in the news.

He loves German and Belgian shepherds as do I. When it comes to Belgians, he has had Belgian Malinois dogs.

One thing that mystifies me is that he behaves as if that first solo album never existed. There's some good stuff on there (Cry From The Street, No Way, There's No Way Out of Here, Short and Sweet). In my opinion the whole album is more than decent as far as first solo efforts go. It's a solid late 70's FM radio friendly rock album. Yet he never does that stuff live, ever. I wonder if he just dislikes it or if there's some legal and/or licensing issues with that material?

I have a black Strat that looks very similar to the Gilmour Blackie but it needs upgraded pickups so lo and behold I attended a guitar clinic nearby the other night for Fishman Fluence pickups and won some Strat pickups. Now these are active pickups that require a battery or in my case an added lithium battery pack that can be charged via USB.

Greg Koch player them and wow! they are awesome pickups. I think they can get that sound that Gilmour loves.

Congrats on your Strata pickups win. I can hear you already playing along with "Animals".
