One of his most fun and a damn good thriller too.

Dumb fun with a smarmy villainous Richard Dawson.

Of the ones listed, I own Conan on DVD, but I'd probably watch T2 again before any of the Conan movies.
I don't even own his Batman movie, which is pretty surprising for me, as I own so many super hero movies.

I went with True Lies. While I prefer the action thrillers, I think the comedy of True Lies added a dimension that was usually not in most of his movies.

It's probably T2, but I have to vote for Conan the Barbarian.

T2 would be second on my list. Conan The Destroyer was also good. So was Red Sonja...but I digress.

T2 with Predator a close close second. (I was never a Conan guy)

Anything with barbarians in it was better, to me, than a romantic comedy or an 80's 'teen' movie. I stand by my decision. ;)

Conan does have my favorite Arnold quote:

Quote:
Conan: To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Mongol General: What is best in life? Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.May 14, 1982

Commando is my favorite guilty pleasure film by Arnold.

I love him in almost everything, but I cast a vote for when he went meta with "Last Action Hero."

It's a tough call for me. I think maybe Commando is up there for me. Conan. Terminators 1 and 2. Predator. One of those.

Arnold didn't really swing between "really good" and "really bad." Most of his classic movies are on about the same level for me.

Raw Deal is my favorite of the guilty pleasure B pictures. Unless Commando should take that title. Commando is better than Raw Deal. But I do like Raw Deal.

Sometimes one gets to pick two things. So many good movies there, it's hard to pick just one. I'd be more inclined to order them.

But I haven't seen them all.

The Terminator (the first, the best of the series - a love story that transverses time itself - and a cool idea worthy of a series of movies).
Terminator 2 (Cool effects, a great sequel)
Conan the Barbarian (love that transcends death this time - great story)
True Lies (quite amusing).
Last Action Hero (Well done. Great story).
Predator (Yes, loved it)

Eraser. (Fine - railgun city - and adequate, but not high on my list)
Total Recall (I don't remember too much about this one). No Red Heat? No Commando? No The Running Man? All good movies.
The Expendables 2 (IIRC, this was fine, but not great)

Kindergarten Cop (This and the next two are just fun movies - light comedy - not his best genre, but they're fine)
Twins
Junior

Jingle All the Way (not sure I even saw this)

Batman & Robin (This sucked pretty hard, as I recall).

Gosh, now that I think about it, I don't think I've liked a movie from him since the turn of the millenium, unless you want to count the EXPENDABLES movies.

The shine came off for me around END OF DAYS and COLLATERAL DAMAGE, which were both pretty disappointing. Looking at his Filmography, it looks like it was mostly downhill after TRUE LIES.

Actually, TERMINATOR: DARK FATE was entertaining and he did a nice acting job in that, but I don't think I'd rate it along with his 80s stuff. I still haven't seen GENISYS, despite owning the Blu-Ray. The ones that make up the legend of Arnold for me are --

  • Conan the Barbarian
  • Terminator 2: Judgment Day
  • Predator
  • The Running Man
  • Terminator
  • True Lies
  • Total Recall
  • Red Sonja
  • Commando
  • Twins
  • Red Heat
  • Kindergarten Cop

And I guess LAST ACTION HERO, though I haven't seen it since it was in theaters. But I remember liking it and feeling surprised that it was panned.

Red Heat is an underappreciated Arnie film.

True Lies was the last big Arnold movie that knocked it out of the park, IMO. Jingle All the Way was another comedy he did, which wasn't bad, but hardly a blockbuster. I would agree End of Days was where things kind of wrapped up for him in terms of being a major action movie box office draw.

True Lies. It captures all his strengths and is a damn good movie to boot.

Right behind that I'd go for:

The Terminator
Total Recall
Predator
Terminator 2
Commando
Red Heat
Raw Deal
Eraser
The Last Stand
The 6th Day (I liked it. Didn't take itself too seriously).
