Hard to choose. I loved Romancing The Stone when it came out at the movies but haven't seen it since. Maybe it just had a good cast overall and that's what made it work? DeVito's consistently good in everything he does.
In terms of 'serious acting' I want to say Cuckoo's Nest...but all of the stuff listed features enjoyable performances of his that I've liked. I haven't seen Dumbo or Hoffa but I've seen the rest and can't say I disliked any of them. I'll have to mull this one over a bit.

I love Danny DeVito, but he is never the main draw for a movie (including all of these). Frank on Always Sunny is the funniest he's ever been. So I go outside the box to TV and pick Always Sunny.
Met director Barry Sonnenfeld a few months ago (Get Shorty) and the Chilli Palmer character was supposed to be Danny but he got busy directing Matilda so only does a smaller part in that movie. Danny is one of Hollywood’s best producers.
