This deluxe edition expanded soundtrack to the film 'The Buddy Holly Story' features 22 tracks, up from 11 tracks on the original release. The additional songs include many performances that were in the film, but not included on the original soundtrack, such as “That’ll Be The Day,” “Mockingbird Hill” and “Tennessee Waltz“ performed by Gary Busey (as Buddy Holly), “Chantilly Lace” performed by Gailard Sartain (as The Big Bopper) and “You Send Me” performed by Paul Mooney (as Sam Cooke). Buddy Holly is one of the most revered musicians in rock and roll history, and The Buddy Holly Story is his definitive legacy film, earning 3 Oscar nominations. The package includes many rare Buddy Holly pictures donated by his estate.

Being a lifelong Buddy Holly fan, I was never a fan of Gary Busey's singing in this movie. Really sounded nothing like him, in my opinion. My favorite piece of music from the film was that beautiful string and guitar arrangement of True Love Ways that played over the closing credits. Not sure if that's on here.

I'm in. I know that there were issues with some of the parts of the movie not being accurate, but I still really enjoyed the movie and I'd love to get any extras.

All of these song are still available by Buddy Holly, or the original artist(s), ya know. Why would anyone want to hear a cover by someone with considerably less musical talent? Even someone who LOVED the movie can't credibly assert that listening to these versions on a CD is better than listening to Buddy's.

It's a different experience and I enjoyed it...less musical talent or not.
