when this virus is finally over and done and you feel relatively safe, where will be the first place that you go?

for me and my wife, a very leisurely drive to the little italy district of cleveland for an italian dinner and some pastries. then take the long way home and go to geneva on the lake and sit by the water for a couple of hours with a bottle of wine.

i hope the weather is still warm when it happens. :sigh:

While I don't think this wiil truly be over till 2021, I would like to take a ride/ vacation to Upstate NY at our favorite Irish resort and then some beach fun in Cape May NJ. Gonna stay a bit more local this year. No trips overseas (we usually do Aruba once a year).

Hopefully we will be able to go on our trip to Portugal/ Spain in 2021 which got postponed exactly as the virus overwhelmed NY.

I want to go to the diner for some pancakes or French Toast ( maybe both) with Canadian Bacon.
I can't see me doing that until the end of summer, even if they open much sooner.

I guess on to dinner or lunch. I missed Spring Training with my Dad this year, so I'd like to do that next year. But I've been working as I'm in Tennessee on a deployment since construction is still going on.

Back to work. I'm tired of this furlough.

I'd like to take a trip to the coast - Myrtle Beach. Maybe the fall - I'll have to keep up with what's going on there - they seemed to have a pretty high no. of cases for SC.

I’ll probably go out to eat, then a trip to the bookstore.

Beginning to think I should budget for a big retail therapy shop - Bakka Phoenix book store, Paradise Comics comic shop; CD shops in the Kensington market, Supper at the Red Lantern Pub, and then off to the Horseshoe Tavern until 12:30 or 1 am, once they're allowed to open.

I'm fortunate that I'm in a place where I can vote with my dollars, and maybe overspend stupidly, just to try and help some places out

Back to my local hiking trails across the river in Ohio first. Then as soon as possible hopping a plane to the desert in Utah for 10 days of a more fun and scenic social distancing (one that is intentional this time!) :)

As an aside, I hope that my employer lets us incorporate work from home into a more permanent thing, personally. I doubt I will get to do it every other week like now (we are an essential business and have rotations for going in), but a few days a month would rock.

Over?

It won't be "over" until I've taken the vaccine. And I deal with my trust issues of other people who may or may not have taken precautions. Otherwise, it won't be "over" until I get a call or email about a job and have to make that decision about being around a lot of people. And I STILL might catch the virus and die. THEN it will be over.

But I like the idea of going to the bookstore, even though I still have a very large stack of unread books already. And maybe going out for some hot wings. Heck, even a salad bar would be nice. Or the Chinese buffet.

The ultimate answer though would be Road Trip.

All of my recent conferences have been canceled, and these conferences are where I network with clients and generate new business. My next scheduled conference is in New Orleans in September. I'm not confident that will happen, though my clients are still planning to attend that show. We'll see. If not, I'll need to visit new clients individually, so my first trip will be to Austin. Then San Diego.

A large sit-down dinner at my favorite Chinese restaurant, to start. Next day, breakfast at my favorite breakfast spot, followed by a long, mask-free walk from Battery Park City all the way up the West Side.
