Eh. Pretty lacklustre list. I can't even choose anything from those.

Of the ones I've seen, Turtles and The Crow. (I consumed a lot of movies in the first half of the 1990s.)
Agreed that the list is arbitrary af.

Not one of the choices, but Batman (aka Batman: The Movie) from 1966.

CBR articles are almost all objectively terrible writing. They usually state opinion as fact, draw half-assed conclusions from off base presuppositions, and feature poor grammar throughout. Also, most are ridiculous "5 things that are great and 5 that suck about <topic>" hack articles. The ones that are fun are the ones who have been writing their articles for ages, predating CBR becoming what it is now. The rest is trash.

From the Watchmen write-up: Quote: Originally released in 2009, the film was the talk of every town. The cast is full of phenomenal actors and actresses like Jackie Earle Haley and Patrick Wilson.

Placement on the list seems to be entirely based on a film's availability through Amazon, and consequent ability to generate income for CBR. It's not an article at all. Quote: We hope you like the items we recommend! CBR has affiliate partnerships, so we receive a share of the revenue from your purchase. This won’t affect the price you pay and helps us offer the best product recommendations.

Of the list, I went with Sin City, which is still my choice for closest comic adaptation. If only they'd hired someone other than Jessica Alba to play Nancy. Not Sue Storm miscasting, but close.
I loved the Crow, but they did change it some, and of course, the Brandon Lee tragedy did colour it. Soundtrack might have been the best album released that year.
And for the record, there are probably a dozen MU movies that destroy everything on this list in terms of quality.

Based on the introduction, there seems to be an unpspoken "Not Counting Marvel Studios/MCU films" parenthetical in there. Not that it's all that clear. Jay is right, the writing is middle-school level at best.

My favourite comic book movie is Thor: Ragnarok. From that list, Watchmen would win it for me. That's not to say it's the best, just that I like it best. If we're talking about adaptations that are faithful to the source material then Sin City is the closest thing I've ever seen to a movie that's an almost literal cinematic translation from the comic book.

Re-looking at the ones on the list, The Crow is the only one where I actually like the movie better than the comic. I can't think of too many other comics adaptations where that would be the case.

I enjoyed X-Men: First Class the movie more than X-Men: First Class the comic.
