I've enjoyed a month off from concerts in January (and the only one I might have gone to was Nektar at the Iridium) but things pick up big time in February which starts with Sons Of Apollo.
Just picked up some preferred seats to see Richie Kotzen at the Iridium next June. Love him and he always puts on a great show.

Saw the Isley Bros again on their 60th Anniversary Tour. Still awesome. The only tix I have right now are for Lit/Marcy Playground in March. I'm sure I'll be adding a lot more...

Roger Waters has announced a new show at Madison Square Garden this Summer so it looks like I might be going to that one (was contacted by a fellow concert going fan who wants to go). He certainly puts on a spirited show.

OK, i go to my share of concerts, but not like some of the people here, so i have a very serious question.
tix for james taylor and jackson browne go on sale on february 7, there is even a countdown clock on the blossom music center website commemorating the event.
yesterday, a good friend called and said he could get 3 tix for the show right then. i argued that they were not even on sale yet.
now, i get scalpers and third party seller and ticker brokers and all that other good shit, but how in the fuck can these guys sell tix in every section of the venue 2 weeks before they even go on sale.
are they in cahoots with the venue, the artist, or ticketmaster or all of the above.?
it just doesn't seem at all right.
something here smells really fishy.

something here smells really fishy. All of the above individually, and you forgot corporate seats as another regular source of pre-sales specific ticket guarantees. But the big one is the re-sale brokers who have fine print that says contingent on getting tickets. Some venues also do subscription services that sell specific seats (similar to NFL seat licenses) that brokers buy, locking in their seat for every event. There has long been rumors that ticketmaster's third party resale site has access before hand, but it's never been proven, and I have to think it doesn't exist. US Anti-trust would have no choice except to break up TM at that point if it was ever proven. Since TM is a monopoly, it's really difficult to prove, but some efforts on big shows (pop acts mainly) have shown that as little as 1/3 of the seats actually reach general sale.

Add in presale deals for any of the following - fan club, venue, promoter, credit cart, ticket agency, any team associated with the venue.
