my mind is blown!

1 - how many people bought 'my songs' in the first place? it could not possibly have sold well at all, i figure only the really true sting diehards would have bought it.

2 - the real true sting fans should be vehemently pissed off at this.

2 - the balls, the testicles, the cajones of gordon sumner to pull a stunt like this on his real true fans. this is one of those times when they should let you return the original for full credit on this one, although they never will.

3 - i really and truly hope with all my heart that no one buys this.

4 - and if sting EVER complains once in public about people stealing music, i hope his tongue falls off.

i just realized that was just released on may 24, that is only 4 1/2 months ago.

Sting's music got me through some pretty difficult times. It means a lot to me. And on this most recent tour, he didn't come anywhere near where I live. So I'll happily buy this, even though I bought the deluxe version last May.

The album bombed at #145 in the US and was off the charts in a week.

Nobody bought it.

But, who cares if he reissues it with a bunch of live songs we've all heard before?

A&M is trying to move product on a failed album.

It can tie into the tour.

For the record, this actually does a nice job of replacing all the existing versions. The "Desert Rose" remix formerly exclusive to the FNAC French release is added to the studio recordings on the first disc, with the live version of "Roxanne" now moved to a second disc and paired with the other 2017 live tracks from the original Deluxe Version and "I Can’t Stop Thinking About You" which had been exclusive to the Japanese SHM-CD as well as the previously unreleased 2019 live recordings.



The 2019 tracks will also be available via a standalone digital release, My Songs: Live, but meanwhile this Special Edition is useful for those who would still prefer physical media.

So, how do these rerecorded versions compare to the originals? I'm not under the illusion that they should, or will, sound the same. If I want that, I listen to the originals.

The live stuff is intriguing to me (<-------me likes live stuff).

I guess that Sting, having released that album of original material, exhausted his supply of new songs once again.

It amazes me that people think that artists/bands are the sole decision maker in releases and are the ones responsible for these releases.

Not sure yet. I find that I genuinely enjoy the variations in the live versions and remakes (when not an attempted note-perfect recreation) because I have heard the standard version so many times. Probably would have been more interesting to me if he had redone one of his classic albums like Natalie Merchant did. I really like that one.

Got this in today from Amazon UK. Delighted to see a practical and functional jewel case, and the price was low enough simply to consider Disc 2 a new live album. As Tricky Kid said, it is a much better organization of the tracks.
