This was the show that pre-dated the first Elton John show I saw (Universal Amphitheater, Back in the U.S.S.A. tour, late 1979). Not only my favorite Elton John show, but one of the most memorable shows of my life.

My favorite live album ever is 11/17/70, Elton with just two other musicians. Elton with just one other musician sounds cool too. I'm putting this one on my want list.

I've had this on a great-sounding 2-CD bootleg since the early- or mid-'90s and it's amazing. Elton's voice & piano-playing was still in peak form, the set list was fantastic and Ray Cooper adds just the right accompaniment to every song (as he always does). Anyone who's on the fence about this should feel confident in ordering it. It's my favorite Elton live album.

The boot of Elton and Ray in Concert September 17, 1976 in Edinburgh, Scotland is the best I have heard. There are You-Tube clips from the filmed show.

I don't know about the theatre where this show is taking place, but I show this show at the Grand Ole Opry House and it was excellent. The first half was Elton alone. Midway though the show, the backdrop lifted up, kind of tilted forward (hard to explain) and Ray Cooper appeared underneath the backdrop during "Funeral For A Friend". Definitely a memorable show.
