This latest news actually sounds a bit concrete, so I'm opening a thread for the long-promised Kinks reunion album. We can put news, rumours, wishes and prayers here rather than in the general Kinks discussion thread.

I'm going to listen to this album while reading the final "Ice and Fire" novel.

Oh yes, he'll definitely be there.

I mean, he said he would ...

Iconic band The Kinks finally end 25 year feud and move next door to each other
The brothers have been just as famous for their bitter feuding as for their hit songs, similar to Oasis's Noel and Liam Gallagher

Ray and Dave Davies from legendary 60s band The Kinks have quashed their 25 year feud and now live next door to each other

Relations look warmer between Kinks legends Ray and Dave Davies as they are pictured enjoying a Sunny Afternoon together.

Since their music made them stars in the 1960s, the brothers have been just as famous for bitter feuding that tops even Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis.

But now when guitarist Dave, 72, is in town, he stays next door to Ray, 75, in a house the singer also owns in Highgate, North London.

And the pair, snapped outside the homes, are even believed to be working on a new Kinks album.

Ray once said of their feuding: “Don’t know what Dave’s problem is apart from pride.”

And Dave has said: “You’ve heard of vampires.

“Well, Ray sucks me dry of ideas, emotions and creativity. He’s a control freak.”

He also once described them as like “a married couple who have just reached the end of the road”.

He added: “You can’t divorce your brother, though.”

Ray said he has been inspired to re-form the band – whose hits include You Really Got Me and Waterloo Sunset – when the Rolling Stones toured recently.

He also revealed he has a backlog of songs he wants to record.

And with him and Dave sometimes close All Day and all of the Night, fans can be optimistic.

Saw Dave a few months ago here on LI and he seems like such a nice fella full of joy so I’m glad he has mended fences with his brother.

Ray Davies: ‘New Kinks album is almost complete’

Ray Davies has almost competed The Kinks first new album in more than 25 years.

Speaking to WENN at Britain’s Association of Independent Music’s (AIM) Independent Music Awards on Tuesday (03Sep19), Ray revealed he and his brother Dave have been back in the studio and have plenty of songs ready for their first studio record together since 1993. Drummer Mick Avory is also on board for the first time since 1989’s UK Jive.

“We’re sorting through songs at the moment, picking the right ones, it’s one of the crucial things,” he said. “We’ve got an interesting collection but it’s trying to get it all to fit.”

Asked how things are between him and his sibling, with whom he has a famously fractious relationship, the rocker added: “We love each other but from afar, we’re not lovey-dovey. But in the studio it works.”

As for the album itself, Ray highlighted two songs that he’s really proud of that he wants to appear on the record.

“There are two that I really like; one is a touring song, one is an introspective one,” he explained. “One is called Far Eastern Holiday, which is about discovering the Far East, and the other one is kind of about TV.”

The musician also said the group may tour the record, as he wants to see how audiences respond to his new music.

“I love to tour,” he said. “I love discovering new material with an audience, even if the audience just wants to hear the old stuff.”
