Description
UFO are widely regarded as one of the UK’s best hard rock acts and this year (their final one) are celebrating their 50th year in existence with their final world tour. Phenomenon was the band’s debut for Chrysalis and was a departure from the band’s previous Space Rock sound to a Heavier rock style. This was also the debut for Michael Schenker who was going to have a major influence on the band in years to come. It was produced by Leo Lyons at Morgan Studios and contains some of the band’s biggest rock anthems in Doctor Doctor and Rock Bottom. This set has been newly remastered from the original analog production masters by Andy Pearce. Presented here in an 8-panel digipak with O-card with new sleeve notes by Martin Hann – it contains a disc of B-sides and unreleased demo versions as well as a third disc of live material. The band are currently on a 50th Anniversary World Tour which sees them playing into 2020. They kick off the US tour 9th October.

Wow.

I hope this is the beginning of a big campaign to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary this year.

Of course, we already have the previous remasters which were great with all those bonus cuts and remastering by Peter Mew.

Now, this is brand new remastering by Andy Pearce, and while we have a lot of this stuff already, we most certainly will be getting a lot of new rare tracks, both studio and live.

Awesome news.

CDs are not...dead.

I'll wait for the Lights Out, Obsession, Strangers, No Place To Run, and Walk On Water anniversary sets (my faves). The early stuff was good, but not enough for me to quadruple-dip again for extra tracks.

I'd like Strangers to be done as it was remastered with another disc of a complete show from that tour.

Strangers In The Night...... probably UFO's best output. Those versions of the songs on there are, to me, the definitive versions. Best live album ever, even if parts aren't live. Per Wikipedia.......

Two tracks, "Mother Mary" and "This Kid's" are actually studio tracks with crowd noise added as outlined in the 2008 remaster booklet.

I consider this a great thing and there's zero guarantee of any other releases, though I think there will be.

Walk on Water would never happen as that was on an Indie label.

The run from Force It, No Heavy Petting, Lights Out, Obsession (my fave), Strangers in the Night, No Place To Run, The Wild, The Willing and the Innocent and Mechanix is amazing. Making Contact was rather good too.

But hey, Phenomenon is the first true UFO album and it has "Doctor Doctor", Rock Bottom", "Oh My" and "Space Child" which are all classics.

Only Misdemeanor sucks from the Chrysalis years, and that's because it was Hair Metal with a questionable lineup that started as a Mogg solo album.

We will see.

Same thing was supposed to happen with the Uriah Heep albums and it stopped after only five albums.

Bad Company stopped at the first four albums.

I understand these days if the labels pull the plug after a while.

Whatever we get with UFO will be just fine with me.

As long as we also get Force It, Lights Out and Obsession I will be a happy camper. Anything else is icing on the cake.

Regarding the Uriah Heep albums, are you refering to the Santuary label reissues (2cd's) or the Castle Music reissues? I have the Castle Music reissues (around 2003) and these went past the first 5 albums. Seems there have been multiple reissues with "bonus tracks" with the UH catalog.

The Deluxe Editions did not go past The Magician's Birthday.

It was supposed to have been all the albums up to 1991, just the previous remasters from 2003 that you mentioned. I have all of those and they were very well done, but these Deluxe Editions were even better.

I'm not surprised it stopped though.
