I still remember when I first bought this album. It was available only as an import and I hadn't been able to find it anywhere. I was on an 8 hour stop-over in Chicago on my way to Flagstaff. I was going by train. I had plenty of time to walk around the city. i went into some little record store and there it was! A really great live album.

Ooohhhhh. I hadn't considered this one, Gives me hope they will do End Of the Century.
I can’t confirm it’s accuracy, but a rumor on the Hoffman board says End of the Century has been long planned, and after that Rhino will assess if further releases are warranted. The same source says that one potential complication is that Phil Spector had it written into his contract that his mixes cannot be altered without his approval.
For context, the same source *did* confirm months ago that a It’s Alive anniversary release was planned but was mistaken when they said it would be a simple remaster and not a expanded box set. It’s perfectly plausible that person’s information was true at the time he posted it and Rhino reconsidered at the last minute.

From an article about Johnny Ramone and his widow Linda in today's LA Times, after mentioning the upcoming It's Alive, it says "producer Rick Rubin is involved in an upcoming expanded release of End of the Century"

I'm looking forward to an expanded End of the Century, but what would Rick Rubin bring to the project? As my daughters would say, "That's kinda random."..

Yeah. For the record, I'm just excited to see some confirmation of this in print and not about the Rick Rubin connection.

Yeah, I thought it was the album, and not Rick Rubin, that you were posting about. Also for the record, I have many Rick Rubin produced albums in my collection, and enjoy many. So I have nothing against him. I just don't get what his connection is with this particular album. Though I know when he started out he was in a punk band, and he grew up in New York. Maybe this was a seminal album for him. He was 16 when it came out. Anyway, it's just curious.
