My favorite is actually a recent one, Fred Armisen's "The Californians" a soap opera parody in which the characters all speak in highly exaggerated valley accents, describe every items' attributes (eg. "Mexican mahogany fruit bowl") , and give detailed navigation instructions to every place they talk about. At the end of each sketch, a shocking revelation is made, and each of the cast gets a close-up reaction shot. Then they all group around a mirror and stare at their own reflections. So stupid. Cracks me up every time.

Other. That being Ken "The Falconer" Mortimer.

Will Forte was an underappreciated genius during his run.

Adding to the above list:

Mr. Robertson's Neighborhood
A Night At The Roxberry characters
The Gap employees

I would have to think long and hard to come up with an actual favorite. Let's face it, this show has a long tradition of running anything even vaguely funny right into the ground.

Sad but true.

I really liked the pair played by Tom Hanks and Jon Lovitz, where they would talk in smooth, confident voices about how unattractive and pathetic they were.

Also Hanks as "Mr. Short Term Memory" was a favorite.

Kevin Nealon's (what a hack) Mr. Subliminal (Doot's a poofter) character was pretty (Venmo me $500) funny.

Carvey’s Ross Perot was pretty funny. On SNL YouTube , any clip with Kyle Mooney cracks me up.

Bannings: One too few . . .
Matt Foley.

For those with fuzzy recollection, he was the "van down by the river" guy.

Now, in light of Chris Farley's untimely passing, to be played by Steve Ballmer, owner of the LA Clippers

I went with the Church Lady. I knew people like that, and Dana nailed it. And it was one of the few that didn't end up in its own movie, and therefore, get run into the ground.

Opera Man always cracked me up.

Father Guido Sarducci was a hoot.

The Ambiguously Gay Duo - what are they looking at?

The Pathological Liar.

Asswipe Johnson. A one off, I think.

Leonard Pinth-Garnell. "Awful! Awful! Couldn't be worse!"

Alex Trebek for the win - his Jeopardy shows were hilarious.

So many classics over the years, we could probably list dozens. Without thinking too hard, I went with Wayne and Garth. But that’s more for the movie, one of my all time favorites, than the sketches.

But the Presidents are probably my actual favorite from the show — Hartman’s Reagan, Carvey’s Bush, Hammond’s Clinton, Ferrell’s Bush and Baldwin’s Trump are all hilarious characters in their own right.
