Description
The Seeds of Love is the third studio album by Tears for Fears. In the US, the album peaked at #8 and was also certified Platinum. The album contained the Singles: "Sowing the Seeds," "Woman in Chains," "Advice for the Young at Heart," and "Badman’s Song," upon release it was seen (and still is) as one of the greatest albums of the ’80s.

This edition contains not only the original album, but a new 5.1 mix by Steven Wilson which was done in conjunction with Roland Orzabal, as well as all the relevant B-Sides, alternate mixes and around 60 minutes of previously unheard demos and live rehearsals. The set is housed in a shoe box style package (similar to the previous two TFF releases) with an extensive booklet and a replica of the tour programme.

Double wow! I would expect this to emerge as part of the next TFF box set and then eventually as a standalone release.

When the hell is "Seeds of Love" going to come out? It's been completed for years and it feels like it has been held hostage by every potential TFF project or tour that comes their way.

Release the damn thing. Don't worry. The TFF fans can purchase this box set and a new album in the same year.

A new online rumor suggests this may finally see an official release... October 9 is the reported date for a 5-disc box set.

SOLVED: All of those "mystery" seed packets from China are actually stealth-marketing for this deluxe edition!

I was hoping for a new stereo mix as well. Or at least a new stereo remaster, but it looks like it's still the 1989 master. May still get this for the bonus material.

A few notes:

• Supposedly the Andrew Walter "mixes" included on the Blu-ray are actually remasters used for the first CD in the box set... no official confirmation of that yet, though
• "Sowing The Seeds Of Love" appears in two edited forms, but the Full Version (the album version fades out early) released on some versions of the 1989 single seems to be absent
• The two remixes and one remix edit of “Johnny Panic And The Bible Of Dreams” were released in 1991, but they obviously draw from the original 1990 version
• Several remixes of Seeds-era tracks (Seeds, WIC, Johnny Panic) were commissioned in the early '90s and others appeared in 2004, but none are included here
• "Ghost Papa" (b-side from the 1992 re-release of "Woman In Chains") is also not included here, but it's not really part of the Seeds era anyway

Update: The Andrew Walter tracks are indeed remasters rather than remixes and were done at Abbey Road Studios. Walter previously remastered Songs From The Big Chair for the 2014 box set.

Insider comments elsewhere suggest that the previously unreleased alternate mix on Disc 3 may be an even longer variation of the Full Version, describing it as "very similar to the original just with no fade out at all".

Completists will still need to keep those CD singles, though!

I was beginning to wonder if this one was ever going to be released! I worked on a 5.1 surround mix of Tears for Fears' third album The Seeds of Love way back in 2015, and now it's finally being released on blu-ray as part of a 5 disc box set on 9th October (also release date of the Ultravox Vienna set).

If you listened to the recent 1989 episode of The Album Years podcast you will know I chose The Seeds of Love as my favourite album of that year, but more than that it's actually one of my 5 favourite albums period, and in my opinion Roland's masterpiece amongst the band's many wonderful achievements. The remixing of the album presented some real challenges (there were 4 years worth of recording sessions and different versions of the songs across something like 200 tapes), which I explain in detail in the booklet that comes with the set. This is the third in a series of Tears For Fears limited edition box sets and the first 2 have become like gold dust, so don't miss this one if you are a fan.

I finally got the Deluxe reissue of The Hurting after missing the first time, preordered this one now to take the pressure off.
