2. Box In My Head
3. Tainted Blood
4. Nightmare Epiphany
5. Edge Of The World
6. The Machine

Blabbermouth quotes Eric Bloom about a new BOC studio album:

Quote:
We're not exactly working on it yet, but the ink is going on the contract soon. We've all been working on songs over the years, but there's a lot of negotiation, because it's not just about the new product but also about the back catalog.

Oh hell yeah. Good or bad, BOC releases are always worth a listen. I'll definitely be picking this one up.

Thought for sure it would be Frontiers Records, but the back catalog doesn't seem like a Frontiers type thing....I'll be interested to see what label this lands on.

It probably IS Frontiers Records, and the back catalog in question might be their later titles post-CBS.

I love the group, but they've been talking about this for over a decade. While Buck has done some recording, and even released a song or two, Eric is pretty cynical about the whole thing and unfortunately, I have to say I'll believe it when they actually get into a studio and start recording.

For whatever reason, Eric doesn't seem to be interested in home recording, even though Buck and Richie at least have pretty good home setups.

I may be one of the few, but I thought that "Curse of the Hidden Mirror" was pretty good and it's a shame that they haven't gotten another one out since. They still put on an excellent show, at least up to a couple of years ago, the last time I saw them. I'd love to see another album get released.

Bouchard-less I assume. The band was not the same without them IMO.

Other than Albert guesting at a few shows to celebrate Agents of Fortune there's been no indication that either side is interested in a reunion.

The Bouchards seem happy releasing solo projects and working together in Blue Coupe.

I liked Curse of the Hidden Mirror. "Dance on Stilts","Stone of Love", "Here Comes That Feeling Again", and "Pocket" were great songs. Crazy that it has been 18 years since this (last studio) album was released.

Yeah, at this point I can't believe that the band somehow acquired the rights to the CBS years...

It is Frontiers Records.

And the back-catalog referenced is just:
Cult Classic
Heaven Forbid
Curse of the Hidden Mirror
A Long Day's Night

Also will be five new live albums in 2020, all recorded from 2012-2017. No word on the format of these live albums (download only?).

Was going to put this in the BÖC thread but it's too old and is locked, so here:

Hopefully the Agents of Fortune show from LA gets a Bluray release.

Here's today's news release for those that haven't seen it:

Frontiers Music Srl Signs Classic Rock Icons BLUE ÖYSTER CULT
New Studio Album in 2020

PRESS RELEASE:

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT! For over four decades, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. Indeed, the Long Island, NY--based band is revered within the hard rock and heavy metal scene for its pioneering work. BLUE ÖYSTER CULT occupies a unique place in rock history because it's one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success. Now they have partnered up with Frontiers Music Srl to continue their amazing journey!

"We are delighted to be able to bring back the iconic BLUE ÖYSTER CULT with the release of a wealth of musical material that will certainly please all the fans. Hard Rock music would not be what is now without BÖC and Frontiers is their natural "home." We look forward to a long and fruitful cooperation!" - Serafino Perugino, Frontiers Records President.

"It's been a long time since BÖC's last studio album. Our biggest question from fans is 'when are we going to do some new music?' So we are ready to take this journey again. Recording with Danny, Richie and Jules should be a great experience as we've been touring together for years, and Buck and I are looking forward to including them in the creative and recording process, said Eric Bloom.

"The current band is GREAT and has never been recorded other than the live concerts, so we feel now is the time for new songs to be written and recorded. About half of the songs for the new record exist and the rest will be finished during the process," adds Buck Dharma.

A new studio album is expected to be released from the band in 2020. Fans can also expect to see remastered reissues (some with updated artwork) of four classic BÖC releases including:

1. Cult Classic (originally released in 1994)
2. Heaven Forbid (originally released in 1998) [Not available for North / South America]
3. Curse of the Hidden Mirror originally released in 2001) [Not available for North / South America]
4. A Long Day's Night (Live CD/DVD and Blu Ray) originally released in 2002 - Blu Ray version to be released for the first time)

Additionally, in 2020 the band will present five new live releases which include:
1. Live show from the iHeart Radio Theater 2012 (40th Anniversary).
2. Live show from Hard Rock Casino Cleveland 2014
3. Live show from Rock of Ages Festival in Germany 2016
4. 40th Anniversary of "Agents of Fortune" shot in L.A. in April 2017 ["Agents of Fortune" album played front to back]
5. BÖC 45th Anniversary show Live in London June 17th 2017) [includes BÖC first album played in its entirety back to back]

BÖC is often cited as a major influence by other acts such as Metallica, and BÖC was listed in VH1's countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time.

Upon the release of BÖC's self-titled debut album in 1972, the band was praised for its catchy-yet-heavy music and lyrics that could be provocative, terrifying, funny or ambiguous, often all in the same song. BÖC's canon includes three stone-cold classic songs that will waft through the cosmos long after the sun has burned out: The truly haunting "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" from 1976's Agents of Fortune, the pummeling "Godzilla" from 1977's Spectres and the hypnotically melodic "Burnin' for You" from 1981's Fire of Unknown Origin. Other notable BÖC songs include "Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll," "Then Came the Last Days of May," "I Love the Night," "In Thee,""Veteran of the Psychic Wars," "Dominance and Submission," "Astronomy," "Black Blade" and "Shooting Shark."

The intense creative vision of BÖC's original core duo of vocalist/lead guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom are complemented by Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards, and the longtime rhythm section of bass guitarist Danny Miranda, and drummer Jules Radino.

So, the two studio albums remastered won’t be available in the US?

I never bought them and didn’t think much of them, but I’d give them a shot remastered if they were released here.

A Long Day’s Night was a killer live album (the DVD is longer) and Cult Classic was just re-recordings, having started for new reworking of songs for Stephen King’s The Stand.

The new live stuff seems great and the band still delivers so this is all good news.

I own both Heaven Forbid and Curse of the Hidden Mirror. I think they're pretty good albums. Heaven is better. Anyway, they're worth getting if one is a fan of BOC. Of course, those two don't match their heyday stuff, but they're better than nothing at all.

A couple band members posted this pic of them rehearsing in a studio, apparently working on new material.

Newest update from Buck - a shot of the board tracking the new songs. I've heard at least 3 of these and I'll be curious to see how they've evolved from Buck's demos.

Well, Buck and Sandy lived down there for a while so he's probably got some stories....

Another update. Maybe some red herrings, but definitely some surprises if you look under "Vox" and "Solo"

Richie recently noted that they have to turn the recordings into the label by April and they’re shooting for a September release.
