"How does brokenness walk? Or move through the world"? says guitarist/vocalist Carrie Brownstein about The Center Won't Hold, Sleater-Kinney's tenth studio album. "We're always mixing the personal and the political but on this record, despite obviously thinking so much about politics, we were really thinking about the person ourselves or versions of ourselves or iterations of depression or loneliness in the middle of the chaos".

The Center Won't Hold is Sleater-Kinney's midnight record on the doomsday clock. After twenty-five years of legendary collaboration, rock 'n' roll giants Brownstein, Corin Tucker, and Janet Weiss rise to meet the moment by digging deeper and sounding bigger than we've heard them yet.

I really loved the last album. But this introduction to the new one has me scratching my head.
I hope it grows on me, or makes better sense with full album.

This album will take a while for me. I love St. Vincent and I love Sleater-Kinney. But not sure I need Sleater-Kinney to sound like St. Vincent.

A Letter To The Fans

After intense deliberation and with heavy sadness, I have decided to leave Sleater-Kinney. The band is heading in a new direction and it is time for me to move on. I will never forget the heights we reached or the magnificent times Corin, Carrie and I shared. We were a force of nature. This will be the last time I comment on this album unless I ever have a change of heart.
The last two tracks have confirmed that I probably won't buy this album. I appreciate the attempt to branch out their sonics, but I guess I am just too fond of the dynamics on the other albums.
What do you think of it Charlie?

Well, I pre-ordered it because I like St. Vincent and you can really hear her influence on the band's sound.
