The name of the group is now Not Quite Frankie Banali's Quiet Riot Quote: QUIET RIOT Performs Without Drummer FRANKIE BANALI At Texas Festival May 31, 2019 20 Comments
QUIET RIOT Performs Without Drummer FRANKIE BANALI At Texas Festival (Video) QUIET RIOT performed without drummer Frankie Banali at the Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival in Richardson, Texas. The May 17 show apparently marked the first time ever that the band played without any of the members from its classic lineup: Banali, singer Kevin DuBrow, guitarist Carlos Cavazo and bassist Rudy Sarzo.
Banali was reportedly unable to make the gig for an undisclosed reason and was replaced by Johnny Kelly (DANZIG, TYPE O NEGATIVE). Completing the group's lineup at the festival were James Durbin (vocals), guitarist Alex Grossi (guitar) and Chuck Wright (bass).
Banali resurrected QUIET RIOT in 2010, three years after the death of founding member and singer Kevin DuBrow.
QUIET RIOT initially featured the late guitar legend Randy Rhoads and went through some early lineup shifts before securing the musicians that recorded the band's multi-platinum-selling 1983 album "Metal Health".
Wright has been a part of QUIET RIOT, on and off, since 1982, having initially been involved in the "Metal Health" recordings (he played bass on the tracks "Metal Health" and "Don't Wanna Let You Go"). Grossi was in the last version of the band, from 2004 through 2007, before Kevin passed away, and was asked by Banali to return in 2010.
QUIET RIOT went through two vocalists — Mark Huff and Scott Vokoun — before settling on Jizzy Pearl in 2013. Pearl announced his exit from QUIET RIOT in October 2016 and was briefly replaced by Seann Nichols, who played only five shows with the group before the March 2017 arrival of "American Idol" finalist Durbin. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/quiet- ... -jCrimQ3Ak

Banali isn’t an original member anyway.
What prestigious venue was this at?
A Jack In The Box?

Reminds me of when I saw Foreigner play sans Mick Jones.

A Jack In The Box? Comes a point where people need to set aside the name. Molly Hatchet was/is a damn good example. The fact that they carried on with no original members for years was an abomination and a slap in the face of the originals..... even though they gave their blessings.

Frankie Banali has announced he’s been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. The announcement was made through Mitch Lafon’s Twitter account, and includes this from Frankie: Quote: The original prognosis was very scary. I had quite a battle on my hands and it took a lot, but I am thankful to say that after several rounds of chemo and other treatments I am on the mend. Sending much mojo Frankie’s way. Fuck cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly cancers out there. At stage 4, there's usually no coming back from it.

Oh man, that's a rough form of cancer.
I hope Frankie makes out OK.

I hope Frankie makes out OK. This...and stage 4 means it's more than one place. Just to re-post from the concert thread from earlier this year, when I saw Quiet Riot, I was pleasantly surprised by both how good they were, and how much the too cool for school Heavy Montreal audience was into it. Sure, it's not the line up as we remember it, but the songs stand up, and they weren't treated like a cover band. And while it was an earlier slot, they played the same stage as Anthrax and Steel Panther, so there's still room for them. cause Metal Health will drive you mad...

Who was the singer when you saw them? It was Durbin, and as I noted at the time, he was really good on the metal songs, but he had no feel for the two big Slade songs at all...and no, Frankie wasn't there, either

No surprise here...
Quiet Riot have announced that they will be carrying on as a band in the wake of the death of longtime drummer and bandleader Frankie Banali, and have announced a series of live dates. The group had this to say, "Quiet Riot - 2020/2021 Because life goes on! It was Frankie Banali's wish that the band continue and we keep the music and the legacy alive.
"Chuck Wright has been in the band off and on since 1981 and played not only on the song 'Metal Health' but many other Quiet Riot Albums. Alex Grossi has been in the band since 2004 touring and recording. Jizzy Pearl has been a member of the Quiet Riot family since 2013 and Johnny Kelly has been doing a great job filling in on drums this past year with Frankie's blessing.
"We are happy to have shows on the calendar with many more TBA and very much look forward to celebrating the history and legacy of Quiet Riot with all of you in 2021 and Beyond...!!"

So I guess by default that Chuck Wright is the "classic" member of Quiet Riot now.

This is crazy. Even though Frankie gave his blessing it's better to lay this one to rest.

I had seen the Quiet Riot documentary that came out a few years ago but have to admit that most of that train-wreck has already been purged from my memory. The only thing I have a definite memory of is how they fired one singer because he would do a "Yeah, yeah, yeah" instead of a "hey, hey, hey" (or something like that) and Banali was livid because everyone know that in the particular singalong you have to do a "hey, hey, hey." Seems to me there was something regarding Banali's wife or girlfriend in the documentary...if so, I wonder if she is now the owner of a band name?

It was painful to watch but I enjoyed it. Frankie could not let go. I don’t know who owns the name, but I know when they reunited they asked Randy Rhoads’ mom for permission.

I saw them in 1994 in Baton Rouge with their full 80s lineup and they were awful. Once their lead singer died, their music was never going to be the same. It’s not like Alice In Chains where jerry Cantrell wrote most of the songs and sang over half the time losing Layne. Kevin pretty much was Quiet riot
