Based on the glimpse we got of the Celestials in GotG, i am completely onboard for this!

I knew marvel would eventually bring in the Celestials, but I thought they would combine it with the Asguardian lore. I never really cared for the Eternals as main characters. I found the deviants to be more interesting.

We need to figure out how to get the Kirby DC rights into the hands of Marvel studios, stat.

It does feel like cosmic Marvel movies are using DC concepts. Even growing up in the 70s, I was ignorant of Kirbys space opera stuff. I thought Jim Starllin’s creations were entirely original, even Adam Warlock. My introduction to the celestial’s, was probably by Roy Thomas in Thor( my second introduction to warlock were some French reprints of the Thomas Warlock series)

If Marvel wants to really troll DC, they should hire Patty Jenkins for one of their next big projects.

Hmm. Looking at Google images, it appears everything I’ve read about the Eternals, has been done by other creators. Don’t think I’ve ever read any of Kirby’s Eternals

You are probably right.

I never gave The Eternals much of a chance: I bought the first issue off the racks because it was
a new Kirby, but my impression (at the time), was that Jack was channeling some Chariots of the Gods
stuff (Jack always seemed impressed by pop cultural and movie trends) and/or it was new Asgardians
or left-over New Gods characters/ideas.

Occasionally I saw some of the characters show up later during runs on Thor's book or in the Avengers.
I guess I still don't really know all that much about them. Never felt the need to learn more.

Eternals starts out really good (and it’s definitely his riff on Chariots of the Gods) but peters out as he loses enthusiasm for the series with the idiots at Marvel constantly trying to hand him editorial mandates.

My brother and sister ( no strangers to comics) both think Marvel and DC are in the same universe. Oddly enough my brother will wonder why Batman isn't in the Avenger's movie, but he is puzzled that X-Men characters appear in the Deadpool movie.

Yeah, my wife had a cute moment when the last Avengers movie came out. She told me she had a big moment spoiled for her on Facebook. After seeing the movie, I asked her what it was.

"Batman."

Batman?

"Yeah, Batman dies."

Huh? Honey, that's a different company...

I will be steering well clear of this movie.
