Happy Holiday Mark & Simon.
I have both, Neil Schon was on fire as a writer and many tracks ready which Journey didn't need and with Jan Hammer who is as you know is really an excellent keyboard player. Probably most remembered for his great sound track work for the TV show 'Miami Vice' and has played collaborated with some of the era's most influential jazz and rock musicians such as John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Mick Jagger, Carlos Santana, Stanley Clarke, Tommy Bolin, Neal Schon, Steve Lukather and Elvin Jones.
'Untold Passion' was released November 1981 with a quick follow-up 'Here To Stay' released December 1982. This album also featured contributions from Schon's bandmates in Journey including songwriting and background vocals from Steve Perry.
Personally I like this stuff, both players were on fire and there are some good rock tracks here. Really nice that BGO has both records on a single disc. If you find the price OK I would recommend this record, it's a fun one.

Sounds excellent, Rick. Thanks for the info!
Happy Easter to you also - I'm a fan of both these guys so I'm a bit embarrassed to say I've never heard of these albums. I'd definitely like them, I'm sure.

I only know the single No More Lies which is a killer rock track and had a video. This two-fer is available for streaming on Spotify so I'm definitely going to check it out and get it if it is.

Didn't another label issue these albums just a couple years ago? I already thought we had this conversation?
I saw the video for No More Lies back in 1982 and was blown away. I went out to buy the record, not really sure what the song was, and bought Untold Passion (probably because the record store happened to have that one in stock). Got it home and didn't like it at all. Then I saw the video for No More Lies a few more times, went to the record store and picked up Here To Stay. Got it home, loved No More Lies and didn't like the rest of the album at all. Granted, I was really young at the time (13), and my tastes have changed and maybe now these albums would appeal to me. But I definitely would not buy these new issues unless listening to them again first because the first go-around was not a positive one. I honestly can't remember liking any of the other songs outside of No More Lies on these albums, not one.
And yes, that video for No More LIes is excellent. Classic 80s right there. Still really like that song a lot.

If you're not nice
The Wounded Bird CDs that Tricky Kid linked to are both out of print and collectably priced (and they're not remastered, either). If you need these Schon/Hammer albums, just get the new BGO twofer in the first post.

I bought the Wounded Bird CDs. I'm good.
You bought the Wounded Bird CDs, but you're evil.
I'm good at being evil.
Actually, these days, I'm more like evil-lite.
Or live evil.
