I saw some of these, but recall little about them. The Sky Captain movie had silly bits in it, but it was also a very nice nod
to the old Chapter Serial Movies / Superman Fleischer cartoon "Mechanical Monsters."

Gattaca.

It's not only one of the most underrated science fiction movies of all time, but the performances in it are universally excellent. Law is no exception, and his portrayal of the crippled Jerome is extremely impressive.

I really must watch it again.

I'm going to go with Captain Marvel. I'll let you know when I buy a cheap copy of it on DVD if I made the right choice.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is an excellent movie, I have to say and so is AI: Artificial Intelligence...but his role in Gattaca is a much more interesting one than any of those, IMO. You really see how much range he has as an actor, as Jerome is generally irritating, smug, patronising and annoying throughout most of the movie but gradually becomes heroic by the time it ends. You see this guy go from being a selfish, arrogant prick to being capable of this frighteningly noble act of self sacrifice for someone he cares about. It's such a believable performance and adds so much to the movie. A lesser actor would've made it seem contrived, but he manages to do it so subtly and convincingly. I often feel as if Law is cast for his looks rather than his acting. I think he's going to get more interesting roles as he ages - his turn as the younger Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts franchise is a good example. I think he's going to get more of those roles as he gets older and attains some more 'English actor gravitas', and isn't being cast as a kind of well-spoken pretty boy.

eXistenZ was an interesting movie that I haven't seen in years, need to revisit that one.

Jude Law never shined better than the Talented Mr Ripley, he was a golden God in that movie, a big favorite of mine.
