My Amazon account was apparently hacked last night by someone changing the email account associated with the account.
The new email was a Russian email address. I had to dig really deep in order to get a phone # to contact Amazon to try and remedy this, since I can't logon to Amazon to start a chat..... argghhh .... they can really be so difficult at times...so then I get customer support on the line and they can see it was compromised so they disable the account and I ask will I be getting email conformation of this while they investigate this ? And - get ready - they said they will send email notification to the email associated with the account...! So, you are going to notify the hacker by email that my account has been hacked and you are going to investigate? Really? - Really?
After that I decide I should check my UK account as well and discover that it's gone- deleted....
So try the same drill to inform UK but of course they have no phone # listed to contact them, only a chat which of course you have to sign in to be able to use, which of course I cannot since the account is not there....
In order to talk with them I establish the same account again and start the chat - by now I'm sure you can see where this ended up....confusion as the CS person says they can see the account - no worries, sir... then I have to explain - no you're seeing the new account I had to recreate in order to just chat with you....
Anyone here have anything similar happen? How did it all turn out?
