ya know (soapbox time)
if i am going to do a joni mitchell tribute album, or a joni mitchell birthday album, i'm bringing in joni mitchell's contemporaries to do the songs. there a couple names on that list that sure a heck don't fit in.
where is crosby, stills and young? jackson browne? carly simon? the whole laurel canyon crowd would be perfect.

I have to totally agree with you on this one. I've felt this way about the various John Lennon tributes that Yoko has had over the years. I can't help but think that a lot of those people never heard of John Lennon but were told that participating would be good PR for them.

Many of the Laurel Canyon crowd aren't speaking to each another nowadays. It would be difficult to get four or five of them together for a chat, let alone for a concert.

i have read that barnes & noble' version of this will include 2 bonus tracks:
norah jones - borderline
diana krall - for the roses.
and that this could push the time to over 80 minuted and there is some question as to whether this will then be 2 CD's. can't find the answer though, sorry.

and if you haven't heard crosby do 'amelia' or yvette in english' you need to get to spotify right away, one, or both, should have been on this record.
even his version of 'for free' is pretty darn good (live on 'allies' and also on the byrds reunion album)

B&N site has this exclusive priced at under $13, only slightly higher than the standard version, so very unlikely that it's 2 CDs.

Unless the performances are intercut with interview footage, seems like the DVD will be the way to go. I have also read several online posts questioning the apparent absence of a Blu-ray release, a sentiment I also share.

Speaking of the artists that were included, I preferred the line - up that performed at the Joni Mitchell tribute in 2001. There are 2 artists that reappear for this 75th birthday celebration - Diana Krall and James Taylor. I am looking forward to hearing James Taylor's version of River on this 75 Celebration, as the 2001 version is my favorite. In the video it is obvious Joni was very pleased herself.
I picked up this exclusive version yesterday at B&N and was very surprised to discover that it is 2 CDs. Got it for just $10.35 after a 20% off coupon.
