I've added the cover image, description and tracklist to the first post. This is solicited as a newly remastered version of the Spoonful's second album (but with no bonus tracks). The image currently shows what was the original USA picture sleeve for the "Daydream" 7-inch single, not the traditional album cover, so this new UK CD might be using the black and white photo (or it might be a mistake).

I am curious to know more about Talking Elephant Records and who might have done the remastering and from what source. I'd also like to know, other than the word "remaster" and the lack of bonus tracks, what differentiates this release from either the BMG Heritage stereo release with bonus tracks in 2002 or the Sundazed mono release without bonus tracks mastered by Bob Irwin in 2015. Thanks.

Bump: This has been pushed back to March 8th, and the latest solicitation shows the traditional colour photo cover.

David, I have a bunch of Talking Elephant CDs and would say that their remastering is "perfunctory", that is to say good but not amazing or revelatory. Similar in quality to BGO's remastering, if that helps as a comparison.

My best guess--just a guess--is that because the 2002 BMG bonus tracks are absent, the Spoonful are not a UK act, and because the original recordings are now 50+ years old, this is sort of of a grey-era UK release. However, as this music, and these albums have been re-licensed to several smaller labels since the dawn of the CD era, and as Butler, Boone and Sebastian have little to no control over/input into these reissues, I don't know that this release is completely unsanctioned by the label.

Talking Elephant is a legitimate UK label of long standing whose releases are fully licensed.

Are they only releasing "Daydream" (and not, say, "Do You Believe in Magic" as well)?

There could be more in the pipeline. Nothing has been said. As a Spoonful completist (or "the most completest completist" at IMWAN) , are you going to get this CD?

I'm pretty happy with the recent Japanese mono-stereo mini-sleeves. The stuff I'd be looking for would probably be something interesting (mini-sleeves, mono mixes) involving the two soundtracks ("What's Up Tiger Lily" and "You're A Big Boy Now") and the four Elektra tracks.

It's still showing as a March 8th release in its native UK, but the new Daydream CD is already available at Amazon USA:
